How far would the Stafford led Panthers have gone?

Do we have the guys who can do that job? So far this has yet to be seen and evidence currently points to no.

As a matter of fact this team has a number of individuals who are well regarded as personnel evaluators. All the same it wouldn’t alter the reality of opportunity cost that drives the draft either way.

Supposedly Fitterer is one if narratives here are to be believed. I guess all we have left is the hope they have learned from the Darnold debacle. Still cannot fathom how anyone thought it was a slam dunk to trade for Sam while believing his game film was not a significant determining factor. Of course this whole line of thinking is obliterated when you consider our decision makers made a new PJ Walker contract our first priority of the new season.

No different than Charlotte.

No, we have, or at least used to have when we had somewhat competent coaching, have an occasional playoff run.

I think that era is over. Rivera brought it (eventually) and Rhule is doing his damn best to keep that era around.

Stafford was with Derroit  12 seasons, only played in and lost three playoff games with the Lions.

I would be surprised if Stafford who is not mobile, playing behind the Panthers rag tag OL and the inept coaching staff, could have elevated them enough to make the playoffs

But do those evaluators have a significant voice or any voice? If yes then they haven’t made a good case for themselves these past couple years and if no then the guy who has the decision making powers is not someone you can trust.

Just to clarify I agree that if a team doesn’t have a franchise QB then they need to get one, especially in the draft. Even if the guy Rhule and co. picks will get Josh Rosen’d it still makes sense to still trying to get a QB.

Ah, so we need to draft a punt returner and teach him how to play QB?

It might be worth a try.  Draft the fastest player available, regardless of position, and tell him he is now our QB even if he has never taken a single snap under center at any level, even screwing around after practice.

It is either that or try the wild idea of improving our OL.

Nah, now I am getting silly.  The fastest guy in the draft it is.

How many other Super Bowls have you seen where the winning team on their final drive gets that many favorable flags in the span of less than 2 minutes? We got some blind mice here.

Agreed, but those blind mice bought Bengal colored glasses.

3rd down, yes that first holding call on the LB was a bad call, should have been 4th down.

Next play you had the dual penalty with holding on the Rams and the personal foul on the Bengals. Not arguing either call, but if there were an argument it would be the holding against the Rams. Exact same block by both teams all day with no calls. Either way, offsetting penalties, replay the down, and let's say its still 4th down if the first call above wasn't made.

Next play that was 100% pass interference on Eli Apple, and there is no question about it. So, 4th down or 1st down from the first call, the Apple play is still Pass Interference and 1st down on the 1 yard line. Same situation we had anyway.

Now let's talk about the 75 yard TD to Higgins, terrible missed call on Higgins. He not only pulled Ramsey's face mask, he also shoved Ramsey out of the play. Clearly offensive pass interference and face mask with a no call. Take that away and the Rams win with or without that last TD.

Bad no call on Higgins didn't give the Rams any chance as it was a TD on that play.

Bad call against the Bengals moved the ball half the distance, but the Bengals still had chances to make a stop unlike the Rams. Bell shouldn't have committed the personal foul, thats the Bengal players fault, could have moved the ball back 10 yards on the Rams holding. Nobody made Apple commit an obvious pass interference to put the ball at the 1 yard line. Yet still the Bengals had an opportunity to make a stand at the 1 yard line, an opportunity the Rams didn't have on the long TD

That's true, there was a golden era for a bit there. Long gone now. Bring on more Ls.

Pretty much where Detroit ended up virtually every year with him. 6-7 wins other than a few anomaly's. He's not a franchise altering quarterback. That Rams team is stacked. They went to the Super Bowl with Goff a few years ago.

People give Stafford way too much credit. He's made multiple bonehead plays every game this playoffs. He's lucky the team around him has managed to bail him out.

It would look similar to the Lions just as getting Watson would look similar to 2020.

Wheb you don’t have a supporting cast or coaching, it just does not work. That is why the Bengals are so impressive and the underdog, exceptions verify the rule. But that’s in a general SB contender sense, the Panthers aren’t even close to underdog status.

    • I have more faith in XL improving than I do in Tmac being a true number 1 recuever
    • Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
