I agree with this, I like Luvu a lot. But if he only plays like he did last year a little high. Whose spot is he takin defense?

Did we even run 3 LB's often? They had Reddick listed as the starter beside Shaq and Carter but he always seemed like he was at DE. I'm cool w Shaq/Luvu/Chinn getting the bulk of the plays in the LB area and just roll w Kenny Robinson in Chinns 2021 spot.

Or rotate one of our CBs to safety if we bring back one of Gilmore or Jackson. I think/hope we bring back Gilmore and take the comp pick for Jackson.

Horn or Taylor could end up great safeties. Gilmore, Henderson, Bouye, Pride, and one of Horn/Taylor is still a strong CB room.

Honestly, would anyone even remember who Jadeveon Clowney was if he hadn't hit that Michigan RB really hard that one time?

Who knows.  He hasn't been a complete bust or anything.  3 pro bowls.  9+ sacks 3 times.

Just not worth the #1 pick.  He's still only 29 and he had a good 2021.  Maybe his career will turn out decent.

I wouldn't touch him though.

This just reads like the Panthers paying a little over what Luvu is worth in hopes that with an expanded role next year his contract will turn into a steal.

Ultimately this deal will be judged on how Luvu develops in coverage because that’s what kept him off the field. His missed tackle percentage of 4% was fantastic but his pass coverage percentage of 100% wasn’t.

Hopefully this means we are letting Carter walk, his play did not take off with the expanded role. Stanford is the only other linebacker (besides Reddick) that is not under contract for next year.

Unless they restructre Moton/CMC/Robby/Shaq we've maybe got $10m to use before draft picks. Maybe less if we trade back and get more picks

The Panthers had a bunch of dead money coming off of their cap and what do they do with it ?   Go on a bad contract spree and just throw money around everywhere for poor performance.

The team's handling of their salary cap has been just gross incompetence.

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
