That doesn't give me confidence in McAdoo's opinions.

There are two possible feelings you can come away with after reading that...

One: Thomas might be better than we thought

Two: McAdoo might not be as good as we hoped

Guess we'll see which one is true in a few months.

If McAdoo was that good he wouldn't have been consulting last year instead of coaching and wouldn't have taken this job. Two is absolutely true.

I personally gave up on One years ago. His best work came on blown coverages due to the fact no D respects him. His blocking isn't even impressive and that is his strength.

I don't know that he is.

The notion that he could be is largely based on his prior years' quarterback evaluations (lobbying for Mahomes for example).

What seems more certain is that if we're taking his opinion into account when making free agent decisions, somebody up there thinks he's good.

(my guess would be the guy who's in charge, given that he's the one who hired him)

This team is a fugging joke. They have no idea what their doing. Tepper said when Rhule came it would take 3-5 years to build consistent winning team. Then year 1 they starting signing and go for people like they wanted to win now. Now year 3 oh we know pressure is on is to win and doesn’t say anything about being a consistent winner anymore. What I joke of a clown show!

That is fair sir.

My only hope I have is that McAdoo can stop another Darnold deal this year. If this was a better QB draft class then I would hope he could bring us a legit QB. I just don't see that this year. The one guy with a lot of upside is a long-term QB project and not a win now guy. That was supposed to be McAdoo's positive, finding young QB talent. We are talking to teams for Vets so I'm not sure it will even come into play. If he had a hand in PJ staying then I think even this is suspect.

Impressing Rhule means little if we are talking about reality and not the reality of Rhule's pooshow. Being an IT guys sure doesn't help. He was just the best a failing HC could do, not really that impressive to me but certainly a huge deal for Rhule.

Tepper from the jump said this was going to be a years long rebuild now Fitterer is saying winning can't happen fast enough after forfeiting half our draft for the worst QB in the league. He mentioned making good decisions. Well we've consistently done the exact opposite. They might actually get less flack if they would just own up to the fact they took a giant L in their overall approach last season. Instead he just blovates about how you don't actually need an elite quarterback even though the playoffs showed us otherwise. And passing the buck on the Ian Thomas contract to a recently hired assistant is some poo that would make even Hurney cringe.

There is prior evidence that cast number 1 in doubt.

Number 2 has prior evidence to confirm as well.

Tough call.

Only to get blown up by a 5'10, 185 pound cornerback

I was just coming to say this. How is he supposed to us that speed if he cannot break a tackle of a small DB. He sure as hell cannot dodge one either, as evidenced by his failure to get 3 inches when he needs it.

Oh yeah and it seems like they believe the QB  is holding Ian Thomas back if you read between the lines. And Mcadoo identified him as some one he really liked so I’m actually ok with it now. He was a crap head coach but really was a good o coordinator. It seems like Thomas and Luvu got paid also because they’re good locker room guys and we really might need them to keep the team together if this season goes how most think.

As a guy that absolutely loved the Thomas pick when we made it and thought based off his physical potential, we got an absolute steal at the time, no doubt, Thomas has been beyond disappointing.  He just doesn't play as physical as his measurable would indicate.  He constantly seems to go down to lesser defenders, be it blocking or after the catch.  That being said, it also just seems like he doesn't get the ball very often, and it feels like our offense hasn't really used a TE as a TE since Rhule has got here...  so, those things haven't worked in his favor.

All that being said, I still go back to how much Olsen was complimenting him on one of our games last season...  he was adamant about how skilled he was and what a player he could be.  For our sake, I just hope McAdoo is right and if he finds his stride, although not likely at this point, perhaps we just got a huge value in that contract for the next year or so.

I did think *given the current situation, Mcadoo was a good get. I did hear dallas was *planning* on hiring him as the OC if moore got a HC job, that help me tons.......cause just normal coaching deal, I would not have Mcadoo in area code for coaches I want. I meant the lights came on and youre heading the local pancake places and pick up a flower in the parking lot....type of deal......

    • You nailed it with Pelaton instructor lol
    • I think some in here are over estimating how far that 27m is going to go.   Just Jarvis, Guentzel and Chatfield are going to cost around 17 AAV.    Jarvy even with a bridge deal is going to make in the 5m AAV range.  Guentzel is going to be in the 9m AAV range.  Chatfield will be in the 3-4m AAV range.  Skjei wants around 7m AAV, Pesce already turned down a 5m AAV deal last offseason.  This team is going to see a lot of changes going into next year. I do mean a lot of them.
