Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been suspended for at least the 2022 season after betting on NFL games, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The alleged activity took place during a five-day period in November 2021 while Ridley was away from the team and on the non-football illness list. He stepped away to deal with mental health issues.

This suspension will cause Ridley’s contract to toll for the 2022 season, putting him under contract until the 2023 season with the Falcons.

Ridley is eligible to apply for reinstatement on Feb 15, 2023, and can appeal the suspension within three days.

The NFL’s press release, seen below, states that Ridley had no inside information or involved any “coaches, staff’ teammates or other players in his betting activity.”

It is insanely frustrating to see the rest of the NFC South implode in front of our very eyes and yet we are powerless to take advantage of this vacuum.

Especially since EVERYONE HERE SAW IT COMING. We've been waiting on Brees and Brady to retire. Check. Sean Peyton gone? Sure. And here we are with our thumbs up our butts when we should have been preparing to dominate this division for the next decade.

something something forest something something trees.

Yeah... the 'rebuild' timing was perfect for this situation... alas..

All this would prove is that he bets with his head and not his heart.

Falcons fans pointing out a ton of drops that looked uncharacteristically bad or "intentional." NFL trying to make it clear this was all after he left the team but I don't completely buy it. Horrible look for the league especially if more info comes out that suggests he could've been betting on games while playing.

Betting while not playing seems like a minor infraction unless it was on the games the Falcons were playing. Of all the crap that goes on in the NFL on an annual basis, Snyder, Kraft, deflategate, bountygate, PEDs and this is where the NFL is going to lay down a hard penalty? I'm sure it's against the rules, but it seems pretty steep to suspend him for a year.

    • I had everything saved on an old email address and my computer crashed and could not be revived.  I tried reviving it, then stumbled on one I was going to create several years ago...So I am using it instead.  My fault--did not keep the email and forgot password--
    • Rasheed Walker for Kris Jenkins Jr.is what i am actually referring to in that particular post  all those #'s you are referring to are athletic #'s & Monroe Freeling had or has an impressive combination of size & raw athletiscm & it has nothing do with his size or athelticsm that is preventing him from being a day 1 starter in the NFL technique is where he struggled at the NFL combine & not only scouts but analysts alike also viewed him as more of a developmental type of player rather than a day 1 starter  go take a look at Will Campbell transition from the SEC to the NFL another first round LT that was drafted #4 overall by the New England Patriot,s.Will Campbell was a three year starter at  LSU & was thought to be one of if not the very best LT's in the SEC  & compare his SEC carrer to his rookie season in the NFL? just because you played good in the SEC at LT does nescarrily mean you are ready to start at LT in the NFL day 1 & or your rookie season  & one last thing i think you are jumping to conclusion & somehow assuming that i do not like Monroe Freeling ?which could not be further from the truth .what i do not like is the idea starting a player who is not ready ...just saying
    • I'd 10x rather play the NFC North than NFC West.
