So are we saying that this is (basically) a 2-horse race?   I really see both sides--not sure what I want, so I can be pretty objective--I HATE the idea of moving into 2022 with Darnold but I hate the idea of giving away half the defense and three firsts for a QB to play behind a soft OL.  If this deal does not get done, it is because Rhule's reputation is poo.

OJ was charged. Neither were convicted but Watson wasn't charged.

Excuse me...was charged, but was found not guilty.  The civil portion played out very differently if I remember correctly.

Watson got caught with his pants down...literally, but whether or not his accusers get their justice, who knows? I said earlier some of the women probably piled on for a payday.  How many?  Who knows, but not all of them.

I mean...what can NO even offer in the way of players? Picks, sure. But what players, that they haven't already restructured contracts for, are realistic options to send to satisfy Houston's demands?

Watson will want Thomas (can't trade anyway with his dead cap), Kamara, and the OL left intact. Lattimore can't be moved after his restructure. Chauncy Gardner-Johnson the main player in their offer? Davenport & him?

Has it occurred to anyone that New Orleans is merely driving up the price with no realistic intention of getting Watson?  I mean--the numbers do not add up.  We should sit on the offer and refuse to get played.  Brady re-signs, Tampa Bay is out.  Cousins re-signs--Minnesota out.  New Orleans does not want to see us get a QB---so suddenly they are in?

I think it is a bluff.

Yeah. Wilson just said that Ryan Ramzyk (sp?) would be included in the deal. However they just restructured his contract and would be on the hook for 37 million in deal cap money this season if they traded him. People are just pulling poo out of their asses now.

He’s still going on about the Saints. We ain’t getting him

Now that tweet i call BS on.

I still think NO is the better run franchise so I don't have much hope for us...  but, Michael Thomas factoring into this?  LMFAO.  The Michael Thomas that they've had a tenuous relationship with for the last 3 years or so?  The Michael Thomas who has barely played for the last two years?  GTFOH.

And pair that garbage with the fact that the only thing keeping them afloat the last 10+ years in Sean Payton, just stepped away from the franchise.  Why tf would anyone want to go there?

That reeks of desperation fluff purposely leaked by NO to try to ramp up our offer because they feel inadequate.

I agree. He’s doing the Saints bidding to potentially squeeze more out of us.

the thing about it is though.... this could be just a media game. Our FO has been in lock step with HOU's FO for almost a year now. They have had to of built some sort of professional partnership through all of this. Althgouth its  competitive league, you still avoid back stabbing people. You get recycled each staff cycle, so you need to be smart on how you build relationsships.

Houston isn’t having him sit another year. They’ll get a great package from the Saints.

Will it be as good as the one we offered? No. But it will still be really good

I would love to know how great that package is .

Late round picks, not to many good players on rookie deals and never being big players in FA because Salary cap is always a issue..

Thomas/Kamara vs Moore/CMC is almost a wash depending on injuries. Saints new HC was a failure and Rhule obviously sucks so who knows. Saints were better overall but they might not be roster wise in like a week. Brainfug

The biggest problems facing the Panthers, aside from QB, were the OC and o-line coach. The o-line learned nothing, and we were visibly out schemed by the time the 3rd quarter rolled around, if not sooner. The OC and o-line coach have been fired, and statistically speaking the odds have to be low that CMC will go down yet again.

Michael Thomas appears to be on the decline, while CMC and DJ are in their prime.

They don't have to. The Saints have limited cap space and way overpaid Taysom Hill, they will eventually be starved out and move on. Only the Seahawks and Eagles have the capital to pull off a coordinated hold-out against the Panthers for Watson.

I don't think personally Watson would not waive his no trade clause to go play for New Orleans, I'd say he would more likely do it for Pittsburgh.

Houston is pissed and will not bend over to Watson, that owner is VERY stubborn.

#18 and likely #20-32 overall for 2 years and horrible contracts is not making Houston give up on a bigger haul. Keep in mind, people forget, if Watson refuses to play you can't just fake an injury, you have to have a DR diagnose an injury to keep you out... Houston could sue Watson for his signing bonus. The way people feel in that fanbase and organization, some of them are ready to give up any sort of haul just to screw him over.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
