We need to get out of this, if HE is calling other teams, you don't give 2 of your young core players and 3 1sts for someone calling teams himself

Could be a BS report or maybe he figures ATL is the least worst option between us and the saints.

He’ll end up settling for someone. Us or the saints.

Dont believe the hype dude.  See my post just up in this page.  On WFNZ they just explained why Atlanta has pretty much no chance.  Houston will just hold on to Watson and sit him again next year if he tries to force his way to Atlanta for pennies on the dollar.

They keep saying that a decision is likely to come tomorrow - at least thats the prevailing theory now.  And the Houston media and the Charlotte media all believe that Carolina is the leader right now.

yet national media thinks Saints... none of this adds up.

Houston wants it to be us because we probably offered the most. Houston could block the trade too, a fact a lot of people are forgetting.

power isn’t 100% in watsons favor. It’s more like 75% Texans 25% Watson.

he can’t force them to trade him

If Watson wanted to be a panther he would be one by now, it’s quite clear he doesn’t want to. We have pursued him more than any other team in the league and he still says no.

Tepper has to give it up and draft a QB

This is just flat out wrong. Not saying it’s us, but Houston has to agree to any trade. Watson just has veto power.  Of course Houston strong arms him into meeting as many suitors as possible regardless of feasibility. It only benefits them

Exactly.  Apparently Houston is more than willing to just let Watson sit on the bench for another year and eat his salary.  They're not going to take pennies on the dollar just because he wants to go somewhere like Atlanta.  So, that no trade clause aint all its cracked up to be.  He could say "I will not accept a trade anywhere but Atlanta" and Houston could say "Have fun playing Safety on the Practice Squad for the next 4 years".

    • In a sense it's good. You want your QB to be able to find and hit the open man. Tom Brady had a hall of fame career doing exactly that. But at the same time you really want to know they can make the more difficult throws as well.  I remember watching Lance's tape and being blown away by the talent and arm strength. And then just noticing, "boy, that's like the third or fourth clip in a row where they've said, 'wide open!' That's a little odd." Then I couldn't stop noticing. Not to re-litigate this, but watching Stroud, some of those throws I just wouldn't think are even humanly possible.
    • That was one of the concerns I had with Bryce's tape completely independent of the concerns about his physical tools. Watching a lot of his play those dudes were absolutely WIDE ASS OPEN.
    • Trey Lance was the reason I came up with the completely unscientific "Trey Lance Test." When watching a QB's college highlight reel, what percentage of the highlights are accompanied by the play-by-play announcer saying, "Wide Open!" With Lance, I think it was like 60%.
