The Watson Thread - Part Deux

This will be a serious reality check for David Tepper. A wake up call. He put a ton of eggs in this Watson basket when he allowed Fat Boy to take Horn over Fields or Jones. He should of went with his gut, it was right.

My message to David Tepper is, do not give Rhule any say over this next draft. He will only set us further back if he takes a QB now at #6. Start fresh with a new staff next year, a top 5 pick in a better QB class, and an upgrade Oline.

Because we don't know Deshaun's thought process. We also don't know how it will all play out. Everyone has a pretty good idea but there is no certainty.

I was thinking it never made sense for all this New Orleans talk to be coming from Watson’s camp. Like what’s the point? I saw Tanier speculating it could be a ploy by Houston to squeeze more compensation out of Carolina.

Excuse me but why should I believe that John Ellis has insider information from within Deshaun Watson’s camp?

it’s all speculation, he’s a radio host that is just speculating and throwing poo out there and many of y’all are falling for it. There is a reason he hasn’t said anything definite because he needs to back out when it doesn’t happen. This is sports radio jock 101 level stuff.

I’ve not seen a single new actual source on something since he said we was gonna talk to Atlanta and Atlanta pretty much can’t trade for him so that’s pointless.

Going to throw in this out here. Some people look like they’re having melt downs over every tweet coming out when it’s likely Watson went to bed 2-3 hours ago.

It’s 1am est. Nobody that matters is talking to anyone that matters, and hasn’t for several hours now.

nothing will change till tomorrow. Good night.

    • Yeah I find myself flipping between the worst case scenario of Bryce either playing just mediocre enough for our decision makers to justify giving him a contract extension in their eyes because they want to justify drafting him. Or Bryce going back to playing poorly and us having no one else to fall back on because Pickett might be decent for one or two games but there's no one else and our locker room starts to get ugly because we went all in with our salary cap and guys careers are on the line. This scenario which IMO is the higher probability given our schedule and the amount of tape out there on Bryce is why I say if we can trade down and acquire a few more mid or late round picks we should draft a developmental QB. Not looking for a guy to be the savior but someone with the necessary physical tools and who could actually run a QB sneak. But we'll just have to see how it shakes out. I just want a competitive team but the last thing I want is the season to fall apart because we once again threw our arms up in regards to the QB room.
    • ^This. Rico was dynamite when we needed it last season, but not enough to keep but it massively upped his earning potential. It was a win-win for both sides. And he was there to cover the hole left by the injury to another RB, and hopefully his release to free agency means there's good news for us on the way. These new ones give us the opportunity to do that again, on the offensive line and elsewhere. We've got some long term question marks here and there due to injuries and age, and these players have a chance to up their value on the open market or settle down with us if the opportunity arises. And none of it ties us down with dead money down the road if it doesn't work out. And we've been in dead money hell for a decade now. Lease the ones you like, buy if you fall in love.
