Rhule will have no excuse

Recommended Posts

Rhule IMO will have no excuses this year.

We've addressed the offensive line to where we should, at minimum, be competent.

We have one of the best offensive line coaches in the league.

We have plenty of talent at the skilled positions on offense.

Our defense appears to be shaping up and we have a good coaching staff on defense.

Whatever they decide for QB is on Rhule and he'll have to live with that decision.  Whether a Vet FA or Darnold or a rookie, it will be on him.

I think if he lets McAdoo do his job and stays out of the play calling he might survive.  If he mettles and cost us games it's all on him.

you’re mostly right…but Rhule chose his QB, it’s not a decision he hasn’t made, don’t let him blow more cap on a FA

unless you let him sign a 5th year, gut a draft and fug a franchise for shits and giggles

with that, he made the statement he could win with Darnold. let’s fuging see it

He had no excuses had we done nothing. He is out of excuses from the fans perspective.

Had he done nothing he should have been fired this year.   I think all the Vet coaches save his @SS.

Fitterer/Morgan have done a good job in addressing our offensive weakness. Now there is no excuse as to why we can't at least have a respectable season.

I'm sure he'll make something up. Ludicrous as it might be.

Not a Rhule fan.

but honestly, last years team was at minimum 8 starters away from competing.  That’s pretty tough for any coach.

so far we have addressed 5 of those 8 positions, so yes, Rhule should show some competency this year or else

I agree, but if everything looks good, but we can’t get wins because of bad QB play, he’ll probably get another “prove it” year with a newly drafted QB.
The Darnold decision would have looked like an ok gamble if it weren’t for the 5th year option signing (which could have been Fitty’s call.) and the fact that we had already gambled on Teddy (which very well may been at Brady and Hurney’s urging.
Not making excuses for the guy, but last year’s draft, when he was supposedly in total control, looks pretty good. (Especially if Fields ends up looking mediocre or worse)

It’s very possible that none of the moves have been unilateral. We’ll never know.

If this all saved his ass, we are probably looking at being a bad franchise for a very long time.

He's on the hook either way but if he let's McAdoo do what he was hired for he actually might get another season.

Side note: He might wanna take McAdoo's advice on QB considering his track record at draft time. If that's the case, I have zero problems taking a QB. Although I'd prefer next years talent pool over this one.

If the pick is strictly Rhule's perspective @ qb then I'd worry.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
