Either that or we go LT at 6 and trade for Jimmy G or Mayfield. I don’t care what “reports” say about our and Bakers mutual interest. Nobody tells the truth this time of year.

Oh, I think the mutual disinterest is probably legitimate.

The question for me is whether Matt Rhule changes his mind if there aren't any other options.

Perhaps to Houston as part of a deal for Tunsil??

Spotrac has him with a 35 million dollar cap hit next year. Even if we were to be willing not having our 2nd and 3rd this year makes that difficult unless we are going to offer a player in return.

Also he doesn’t have a no trade clause so it might not even matter if he wants to be here or not

I would cream my damn britches if we could somehow swing a trade for this dude. He’s incredible.

His extension has hit a halt and I just don't think it's out of the picture for Baltimore.  I know he's their dude and former MVP, but is he worth the extension they'd be willing to give?

If everyone is on the table for a given price and we are really in on every deal, I'm calling them to see what their price is.  We have the moolah now to give any QB a huge freaking contract and pieces I can frankly see Baltimore coveting on our defense.

Well if we did get it we would obviously do a new contract to lower that by quite a bit

The only thing that makes sense in my mind is a Darnold for Jimmy G swap. Obviously we would have to add a young player or a pick but really nothing else seems realistic.

I had no idea they can cut Jimmy G and save like $25M. Only $1.4M bonus guaranteed. Not sure what leverage we'd have.

Trading for Sam Darnold in the first place wasn’t a horrible idea. Picking up his option was so f*cking stupid.

No one wants him. He costs $19m and he sucks. It’s a Brock Osweiler type trade. The Panthers are trading away an asset for cap space. Then whoever receives Darnold would cut him most likely.

Trading for a guy who really doesn't want to play for you is a pretty dicey proposition.

I don't really think Mayfield would have a problem sitting out.

Kinda wonder if they’ve decided to go with Cam this season.

Cam and Willis is the dream scenario if they plan on drafting a QB. I really hope we draft a LT though because we currently don’t have a legit LT on the roster.

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
