What is the impetus for the “Keep Pounding” pushaway?

It's quite simple: Tepper wants to get rid of every single thing that existed before 2018: players, stadium, coaches, team culture, everything. Can't wait for the color and name change. I recall someone saying on here that he was pushing for that a few years ago.

Really? I had heard he wants new updated uniforms, which haven’t come to fruition, but I didn’t know he wanted to change the team name.

Tepper probably wanted to do away with it from the first time he set foot in BoA Stadium. Maybe it's a Jerry Richardson thing...I mean, he's pretty much gotten rid of all vestiges of the old regime and this is the cherry on top--his prerogative.

I don't see the correlation of "keep pounding" being a Richardson thing. That makes no sense to me. It's literally a team thing, it's Sam Mills.

I’m honestly surprised uniforms and the more design driven stuff has been put on the backburner for now. Figured he’d be itching to make some revisions but he’s going after in-game and cultural tradition which I just don’t get.

Shame that good players, a perfectly good stadium, offices and draft picks also had to go.

That’s the most puzzling thing. It extends beyond the name. Not many teams have a mantra. Skill Nation, Who Dat and maybe Keep Pounding, not much else. It really brings a long extra layer to the table.

That stretch of keep pounding was awsome because the fans felt like we finally had something authentic to buy in to.  So did the players and coaches.  I'm not sure what he is thinking here if infact trying to separate the franchise from what was imo the best stretch we have ever had.

Not trying to side step this, it was engrained into the franchise when Tepper arrived, on our jerseys, corridors, stadium walls, everywhere. One of the few things that made this franchise somewhat unique and endearing.

And now this is clearly something that they’re trying to wipe away. Let’s not sugarcoat it anymore. They have been washing away all the organic elements that were developed over time. This has been part of our legacy since 2004. For a smaller franchise, that’s cool. I mean, speech was given 18 years ago. Sam part of our team since its infancy.

Is it Tepper just not liking it? Wanting to build his own brand? NFL not wanting it?

I mean, I get a new owner wanting to build his own thing, but you have to keep those elements that organically grew with the team. Especially considering Mills was just inducted to the HoF.

It just really bugs me that tearing this away for generic bullsh*t has been such an obvious concerted effort.

Insecurity

    • I don't think it's a homer though when I really feel this team can beat anyone.  The points that can be scored in bunches when the big three are on has high potential.  Moose has effort for days and IMO is the heart of the team.  And didn't see Miles becoming the team "vet" in the starting lineup just roleplaying lol.   We have to limit the turnovers though (Brandon Miller I'm looking at you bud, you are a bad ball handler) and some little things.   Colby off the bench is a cheat code and him and Kaulk have a nice little game going with the picks.    Sion playing every game and just getting better each game.  He has grit.  Grant and Green also grit.  We need replace Tillman with PJ Hall though.  Tillman looks like someone that shouldn't be on an NBA court, or at least with this team, he's just too slow for this tempo.   Even McNeely looked decent tonight and can drive.   If Kaulk and Moose could even be like 30% 3pt shooters man....
    • 1.) LaMelo 2.) Kon 3.} Miller 4.. Giannis 5.) Moose   1.) Coby 2.) ? 3.) Sion 4.) Miles Bridges 5.) Kalk That squad would win multiple chips.
