I believe in David Tepper.... he wants to win and is willing to spend. He inherited a team that was out of gas, let's face it Cam was done, line was cooked, defense was old and moRON had run his course here with blank stares

Did he make a huge MISS with Rhule, he sure did and he is eating his crow for it

But the guy is not accepting of mediocrity and while he is eating crow two plates at a time, I do feel that he will be the best thing this franchise has ever had in terms of ownership and consistency model of excellence.

You can blame him all you want about SC but at the end of the day what SC signed up for they aren't delivering, if anything it is he who has to eat all the costs of the development that he is walking away from.

when you watch this video about him, you will understand the hell he went through to get where he got and I highly doubt he is going to let sleazy SC politicians get the best of him.

Want to watch the definition of bad ownership? Pay attention to MJ's cheap ass and how he is about to let Bridges walk and we waste the talents of players like LaMelo in mediocrity

1.  He's puts his money where his mouth is.  Say what you want about the guy but he's not cheap like some owners who are not willing to spend the money to give their team every advantage.

You talking about the guy who put turf down at BoA?

the mega billionaire who says he will only pay 1/3 of the cost of the new stadium he one day will come at Charlotte for?

the guy who is bringing joke Rhule (who reports at least say he is embarrassed by) back for a 3rd season because of his stupid initial contract?

Tepper is the kind of person who thinks he can succeed at anything he attempts to do and nobody is smarter than he is.

Would I want him as a personal investor? Yes.

He has owned the Panthers for 3 years( I think). He didn’t learn from his Hurney mistake, he tried telling Ron to run a 3-4 defense when we obviously didn’t have the personnel, he hired a college coach and gave him a ridiculous contract and full control over all football decisions.

Honestly, I don't think it's because he thinks he's smarter than everyone.  It appears to me that he's just a guy that is determined to get what he wants and doesn't like taking no for an answer.

He's got FU money and given how he grew up I'm not sure I wouldn't be the same way.

Although I would have probably gotten better advisors in helping me run my football team.

I don’t disagree @TheBigKat…most people here have forgotten we are entering year 3 of a rebuild.  It isn’t easy to win in this league.  We aren’t as far away as people think

Rebuild?

Rhule’s first move was to reset the market and make a RB the highest paid at the position.

He spent a top 10 pick on a CB despite having no OL or QB

He traded away his 2022 draft picks for the worst starting QB in the NFL.

we aren’t in year 3 of a rebuild.  If this is a rebuild the word has lost it’s base meaning.

He spent a top ten pick on an under achieving DT too. A low impact position and the player isn’t fitting the bill as a top pick

This is yet to be proven true. Giving Rhule a huge contract was stupid. Not admitting his mistake, canning Rhule, and paying two coaches is cheap.

2. Come hell or high water he will find a franchise QB.  I think everyone will agree a team only goes as far as their QB can take them in todays NFL.  In every possible way he's done everything to roll the dice on a franchise QB and I think he'll continue to do that.

This isn't true. Dumpster diving for washed up vets is not doing every possible thing to find a franchise QB. The easiest way to find a franchise QB is the first round of the draft. That is something Tepper's Panthers have yet to try. In fact, his Panthers passed on two guys in a stronger QB draft in favor of a CB. Those two guys would probably be top 5 picks this year.

It has proven to be true.  Spending the money for a state of the art practice facility that is still coming.  Paying a head coach crazy money (even if it was a stupid move).  The practice bubble.  Spent tons of money on the soccer stuff.  You can disagree with what he's spent it on but you can't saw he hasn't paid for what he wants.

Right before we signed Teddy it came out the Bucs were very interested so he upped the offer to get the guy his OC wanted.  Then when Teddy sucks we didn't ride out the contract.  We paid the man to leave.  We had the highest offer to Stafford.  We got Darnold thinking he could be an answer and picked up his extra year right off the bat.  And then when he sucked we still signed Cam for 3/4 of a year at 10 million.   Since the beginning we offered Watson the moon but he didn't want to come here and were willing to pay through the nose to get him although I'm glad we balked at the crazy money the Browns ended up paying.

The only QB we have not been in on was drafting Fields and Tepper wanted to do that but let his coaches make the decision.  The guy is willing to do anything short of guaranteeing 230 million to find a franchise QB.  Yes, a lot of those decision turned out to be horrible but you can't say we've left any stone unturned.

I don't think Tepper has made many "bad" decisions but he's many plenty that turned out to be wrong.

lol in what world is this a rebuild? rebuilding teams don't sign mediocre quarterbacks to 3 year $63M deals. Rebuilding teams do not trade multiple draft picks for a god awful quarterback. They especially don't trade 2nd round draft picks for god awful quarterbacks. Rebuilding teams don't trade draft picks for 31 year old cornerbacks. Rebuilding teams don't trade 3rd round draft picks for project cornerbacks. Rebuilding teams don't go into a draft with 1 pick in the top 135. If this team is rebuilding, then they are doing an absolutely terrible job at it. Rebuilding teams should be collecting assets, not giving them away.
