Was too dejected after another play-in blowout, but it's interesting these guys felt comfortable speaking openly about things directly related to coaching.

Kelly Oubre can go kick rocks, I am over him just jacking up 3's and playing no team ball.  Blame the coach all you want, but if a player is selfish and oblivious to team ball, then we don't need him.

With this being said, JB needed to go, WAY too much talent on the bench while the "starters" wallowed at times.  In Mitch we trust, because we all know MJ is not the man to find a new coach/players.

Some candidates to think about

Quin Snyder - will be highly sought after if he and the Jazz part ways, especially by Lakers
Sam Cassell - hot assistant rising up the ranks and apparently a good leader, but no HC experience
Jerry Stackhouse - took over a bad Vandy program and made them respectable, apparently a good leader
Juwan Howard - huge risk/reward
Mike D'Antoni - tends to flame out quickly but could be good here after always being in high profile stops
Mike Brown - I can't stand this guy but has coached good defenses
Frank Vogel - despite this season is known for defensive schemes
Phil Handy - darkhorse candidate in the mold of Borrego, player development, long time assistant
Kenny Atkinson - wouldn't mind him
David Fizdale - seems like an asshole
Jared Dudley - would be a shocker but is a very smart player and well liked
Adrian Griffin - would love this hire, Nurse lead assistant and the Raptors play hard
Alvin Gentry - no from me dawg
Mark Jackson - no thank you
Scott Brooks - no
Steve Clifford - lol
Dave Joerger - wouldn't mind one bit
Terry Stotts - possible but would prefer other candidates

There are only going to a few openings this offseason (Kings, Lakers are definite - Jazz, Hornets, Knicks are possible but not very likely) so now would be the time, there are a bunch of candidates looking and we'd get a good deal

My favorites from this list are Snyder, Cassell, Atkinson, Griffin, and Vogel

damn good post, thanks.

actually, this should have it's own thread.

WTF, GREAT idea MJ!  It is gonna get a lot worse, guys, we all have seen this before, MJ is straight trash at personnel and building a team.

There has been good and bad with Mitch. I'd rather he stay for the time being but let's not act like he has no blame in all this. We gambled on the Hayward contract and center has yet again become an afterthought with Plumlee stinking up the joint. This team needs some new direction and that should begin with taking a swing at a legit big man finally.

Sure Mitch has been up and down, but do you really trust MJ to make these decisions???  Have you witnessed the disaster that GM MJ is?

With Mitch, at least he is someone MJ trusts and mostly allows to do his job (by indications).  Canning the best person to make these decisions won't go well.

Let's hope that it is stupid rumor.

According to Rod Boone, JB's firing was Kupchak's decision and MJ signed off on it. The article also goes into talking about potential new hires a little. Open the link in a private window to get around the pay wall.

Quote

While ultimately owner Michael Jordan had to sign off on the move, a source told The Observer he wasn’t the man who delivered the edict to sever ties with Borrego, who had two years remaining on his contract after signing an extension in August.

Quote

Kupchak has been the architect of the Hornets’ blueprint and that wasn’t suddenly altered this week. He made the choice to let Borrego go, figuring it was a necessity to propel the Hornets’ young core led by LaMelo Ball forward. There were a variety of factors that pushed Kupchak in that direction, things that were hard to ignore when he began the full evaluation process.

Quote

At the forefront is that brutal defeat to the Hawks last week.

Quote

Defensively, the Hornets also never got it together consistently and that shortcoming also played a role in Borrego’s dismissal.

There were times, too, recently when Borrego’s messages weren’t always getting through to his players.

That would suck but at least we could let the new GM pick a HC.

Yeah Kelly honestly embodies everything wrong with the team rn. McDaniels isn’t going to have lights out shooting nights like that but he’s more consistent in every other aspect of the game.

Mitch is not going to be fired, the story that Peter is talking about came out weeks ago and it was debunked.

Mitch may decide to retire and move into an advisor role but he won’t be terminated.

Additionally, please go after Sam Cassell or Darvin Ham. Need some young up and coming talent that actually played in the NBA.
