Matt Corral is here because of Ben McAdoo

Well Ben is known for being a very good evaluator of rookie QBs so I’ll go with his opinion. Seems like Fitty and Rhule feel the same. McAdoo may look like a schlub but he’s actually a very good OC. He landed a head coaching gig out of it.

I had Corral as my #2 QB, so I don't disagree about Corral being one of the best prospects of this class.

I hope McAdoo can out together something cohesive on offense. The last two seasons have been pretty rough on that side of the ball.

On the radio today, Fitterer said they deferred to McAdoo's judgement on QBs, and he had Corral as QB1

Glad to hear it. See what McAdoo can do with a young QB. He did a phenomenal job with Eli past his prime, got the 2 best seasons of his career out of him. If it doesn’t work out, we didn’t waste much draft capital on taking a shot on a QB and Rhule and McAdoo will be gone in time anyways. If it does work out, great, we’ll be good again.

There's just so much room in there.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Urban Meyer sucked and didn’t belong in the NFL.  It doesn’t for Matt Rhule either.   Or a host of other glaringly bad coaches.

Maybe the GM can get on the headset this season too during games.   That’s basically where Rhule is at.

Matt Rhule every post game presser:

Sam Darnold is our starting QB

Rhule makes it an impossible situation. He's the thing that is keeping me from having any real confidence in this team. He's such a frustrating presence. Maybe he'll do the right thing, but he's just got these tendencies that make me cringe. I don't trust him because I don't think he knows what he's doing.

Hey we agree on something.  You are not a rocket scientist.

well, I guess we will see how strong the Sam Darnold effect is.

the last guy was getting HC interviews and everyone on his offense was having career production after one year.  And that was coming off historic collegiate offense.

then came Sam.  Who was the worst starting QB in the NFL.

So if McAdoo sucks with Sam?  Then Joe Brady was just a super talented yet green OC that Rhule threw under the bus because of his nightmare QB.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
