Does Rhule really think he has 5 years?

Rhule inherited the #7 overall pick.  He also had 3 total picks in the top 2 rounds.

Rhule had better overall draft capital that first season in reality simply because of where his picks were.

Ron’s pick clearly was a grand slam.  But he opted to do that.  That was a Ron move.   He could of gone the Matt Rhule route.  He opted not to.  Cam was not a no brainer.  It was gamble and risky pick.

Rhule inherited freaking Cam Newton.  Probably the greatest leader in franchise history.  He tossed him to the side.  That’s on Rhule.  And Cam had enough gas that year to go on to win 7 games with the actual worst roster in the NFL.   He also inherited CMC.  Best RB in the NFL.  DJ Moore who can sleep walk to 1200 yards with me throwing him the football.   Moton.  Jackson.  Shaq.  Basically leadership and talent at every level.

Ron, Fox and Capers all walked into poo too.   All inherited teams that at most won 2 games.  None walked into the door with a leader like Cam Newton or a talent like CMC.  Only Rhule had that.

Coming off Fox/Rivera we were due a lemon.  We we got it.   Rhule is clueless.  And we don’t need to give him a half decade to get a clue.

So in YOUR mind:

Cam2020 = Cam2011
DJ Moore = Steve Smith
Paradis=Ryan Kalil
Moton=Jordan Gross
#8 Draft pick (1400 pts) = #1 Draft pick (3000pts)
CMC after RR ran him into the ground = Johnathan Stewart + Deangelo Williams

Whatever

Even considering RR's missing 2nd, 1st round pick=3000 points.  Pick #8 + Pick 40=1900 points.  Your math is still shlt even when considering the second rounder.  What you leave out, is RR had an extra 3rd.

"Inheriting the #1 pick" happens because your team is the worst in the NFL.

That means Rivera built up from the worst team in the league to a Super Bowl team (once Marty was gone, of course).

And as far as those draft picks that were traded away, Rhule had final say on those transactions.

Guessing you don't realize it, but your post actually makes Rhule look worse.

I didn't mention any draft picks traded away.  Who are you responding to?   Did we actually lose draft points in the trading done last year?  I hadn't heard that and I'm not sure its true.  Our draft capital was LOWER because we were picking 7 spots lower.

As for the last place finish....

You and I both know that the QB position was the reason for the last place.  Clausen had a QBR of 13.8  THIRTEEN.  That was behind a line with  Gross, Ryan and co with Steve Smith, Johnathan Stewart and Deangelo.  Sam's QBR last year was 2.4X Clausen.    Sam was horrible.  You have you dig down through 30 miles of shlt before you hit Clausen bad.

Once Clausen was replaced there was going to be step up, Mr. Scott, and you know it.  To imply that RR's genius turned around that offense from dead last to 4th is a joke.  RR did choose Cam (the consensus pick) and hired Chud, but he had all the pieces and a #1 draft pick.

I honestly expected a more realistic description of what happened from you.

@CRA?  His hatred is burning  so bright he can't see straight.

Considering how successful coaches can turn around a teams and make even the most dysfunctional of teams into the playoffs and even a Super Bowl within 3-4 years (hell, we've done it here twice with new coaches taking on worse teams with worse records), it's completely reasonable and rational to expect a new coach to have their team in the playoffs within 3 years.

True, and anyone that has been a fan of the Panthers for more than a minute knows it.

In his third year, Matt Rhule will have his hand held throughout the season by more experienced NFL coaches on both sides of the ball.  All Matt has to do in order to achieve his best record in 3 seasons is listen to these voices of experience.

Million Dollar Question is:  Will Matt Rhule be smart enough to talk less and listen more?

Does that paragraph describe a head coach you would want running your team?

For all you "It AkTuAlLy TaKeS fIvE yEaRs To ReBuIlD fOr SuStAiNeD sUcCeSs" Crowd, I'll share what I posted back in January:

Nick Sirianni - Playoffs in his first year after trading away the Team's starting QB in the offseason.

Cowboys - In the Playoffs year two under McCarthy

Mike Vrabel - Playoffs in year 2 in TN

Andy Reid took the Chiefs to the postseason his first year after finishing with a 2-14 record in 2012

Sean McDermott took the bills to the playoffs in his first year after 18 years of the Bills missing the postseason

Frank Reich took his team to the playoffs in his first year as HC after not being able to even pick his own staff in 2018 and the Colts were 4-12 in 2017

Sean McVay took the rams to the playoffs year one of his tenure when the rams hadn't made it to the postseason since 2004.

Kevin Stefanski took the Browns to the playoffs after a drought of 17 years

Matt Nagy (sucks) still took the bears to the playoffs with a 12-4 record after a year of 5-11

Brandon Staley in the playoff hunt year 1 of his tenure as HC of the chargers

Bruce Arians - Playoffs in year two**thanks to assistant HC Tom Brady

Arthur Goddamn Smith has won more games in his first year with a poo roster and no offensive line than Matt fuging Rhule has in either of his first two seasons.

Riverboat Ron - Playoffs year one in the dumpster fire that is DC

It Doesn't Take That Long To Turn A Franchise Around.

I have accepted the fact that Rhule is here for year 3. My expectations are not high, and I want the team to succeed and I will cheer and eat crow if Rhule does.

I'm not holding my breath though.

RR inherited the #1 draft pick overall.   Drafting the Heisman trophy winner and  national champion who carried Auburn on his back to the championship was not some ingenious move that everybody disagreed with.

RR had more draft capital in his first year, than Rhule had in two.

RR also inherited  Steve Smith, Jordan Gross, Ryan Kalil, Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.    Its like a who's who of the greatest Panthers ALL TIME.   He did trade for Greg Olsen that first year, so I'll give him that one.   But your bootstrap description of RR is PURE fantasy.

There no way in hell you compare the talent and draft capital of RR's first year to Rhule's.

🤣
I'm beginning to think you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Rhule inherited almost every good player on our roster, as well.

This.

Matt Rhule's original hand-picked staff required a major overhaul after only two seasons.

Taking into consideration all of the Head Coaches the Panthers have ever had, Rhule has had an historically bad first two years.  No other Panthers Head Coach has ever been retained after one 5 win season, forget two 5 win seasons.

NOONE has 5 years in terms of being able to turn in a poo sandwich for 4 years and then start winning in year 5.  There are some coaches who actually thought that, and they got fired.  Anyone who actually knows NFL football knows that a successful coach with a particular team will start winning in year 2.  The latest they win is year 3...but that is rare.   Most of the time giving a coach a 3rd season after losing in year 1 and year 2 is a waste of time.

Rhule's comments do not speak to the idea that he is ignorant of his situation.  His comments are of a coach who knows his reality, and is trying to talk thru it.  Every word out of his mouth says "OMG I know I suck but don't fire me!"

my opinion is in the vast minority but I like Rhule and I think we need to give him the time of day to rebuild.

those that are clammering to get him fired are the same fat greaseballs that get pissed off in the McDonalds drivethru when their order takes longer than a minute to come out.

Ill find this post later.

Rhule will win us a SB and when he does this losing and the long process will be worth it.  We will surprise people this season.

I am behind Rhule 100% and I'm buying in. creeps on a message board that use this place to build an alter ego to feel better about their actual selves doesn't phase me. Tepper does have big balls and hes showing that by staying put with Rhule.  Folding and doing what a bunch of man babies that can't even clean their room in their moms basement would be weak

I stand behind Tepper and Rhule. Kiss my ass!

So from what I'm gathering anyone that doesn't like Rhule as a head coach is fat, eats from a McDonald's drive thru and lives in their moms basement basically?

We may need you to throw up some pics of your Mr Olympia physique on here as you exit the diet bean sprout bar fresh from your colon cleanse while heading back to your estate in your rolls Royce that your butler "Jeeves" is driving while you read your wall street journal in the back as you do your 135 Ib bicep barbell curls for reps in strict form just to make sure you aren't a fat slob like the rest of us who don't want Rhule's narcissistic incompetent over his head not NFL caliber ass.

We're behind where we should be because we hired a guy to run an NFL team with no real experience in the NFL. He's getting experience now, but he still set us back. He's learning now, but its poo a head coach at the NFL level should have come to the job with.

We should be making a deep run in the playoffs this year. That's where we should be with a coach hired 3  years ago. We wasted a lot of time getting this team right because we hired the wrong guy.

Yep, that's it in a nut shell. I hope he proves me wrong this year and it all comes together. We need it.

If he doesn't break .500 I don't see how he can come back. And if we're under .500 at the midpoint of the season, he might get Rivera'ed and shown an early exit.

No, this is just you making up a bad take and projecting it out…..because you have chosen to take a stand on a bad hill in regards to Rhule.  Capers, Fox and Ron all came into bad situations just like Rhule.   Rhule is only unique in the fact he hasn’t done diddly.
