“I thought I was going to the Carolina Panthers. Then they took Kelvin Benjamin.”

When people try to put Smitty on a pedestal by low key insinuating Jake was trash, they tend to overlook the reality that Jake's best statistical season was the year when Smitty broke his leg in week one and missed the whole season.

Jake carried us that season. That was a great season to watch. Wasn’t that Muhsin monster season before heading to Chicago?

Potentially Adams may have still been an absolute bad ass because he would have had Cam (who was a badass himself) throwing him the football and Cam helped many receivers look awesome. Steve Smith had Jake throwing him the ball and Jake was awesome for a time period but Steve Smith would have been an absolute monster regardless because it was ingrained in him to be a monster. If Kelvin had half the heart, the ferocity, the aggressive nature and the drive that Steve Smith had he would have been the greatest receiver to ever step on the field with the genetics he was given by nature.

Down playing anyone in comparison to Smitty is a low-key insult.  There is only ONE Steve Smith.  Smitty was a once in-a-lifetime player...period.  Saying that someone has to be Steve Smith-like to be successful is pretty laughable.  There's plenty of successful WRs that don't/didn't have the tenacity of Smitty that ended up have decent of successful;NFL careers,

Toxic af.  Can you not handle an opposing opinion without name calling like a child?

So, let me fill you in on this dude. There is a subforum called the 'tender box' where about a handful of posters go.  It's an EXTREME left-wing forum and it's where this dude lives. So if you don't subscribe to communism, socialism...anything short of complete anarchy then you are some right-wing homaphobe, Islamaphobe, Transphobe, xenaphobe, anything short of a complete and utter "phobe".   For the life of me I don't understand why the subforum is even around, but yet it exists.   Don't go in with a differing opinion than the approximately dozen (yes, it's really just a few left-wing zealots that frequent there) that pose as the gatekeepers to that forum.  What that has to do with a sports message board is beyond me?  But somehow it is allowed to exist here.  If Zod were to do away with it , he'd lose about 10 posters, but this place would be such a better community without it.

I’m not arguing who he became just that there was zero reason for the ref to not stop the play and honestly, most QBs probably gave up way before Cam did. Unfortunately, he somehow hurt himself as well. KB may have had a bad reaction but it was very obvious there was contact with the DB and that it would be overturned. Again, with all the player safety concentrating on blind side hits and returns in general, most refs blow that play dead or realize the DB was already down by contact. If it’s Brady or Manning, they might have been quicker on the whistle.

I know that even before replays, I was confident he was already down and if you do rewatch, it’s sad because you can see the ref a few feet from the play. Terrible job letting the play go.

Regardless of the ref, you play until the whistle blows. Just because you THINK you touched a person down, as long as that whistle hasn't blown, you keep playing. That is like one of the main things they preach so I'm willing to still keep blame on KB for that. The ref might have screwed up but KB did the same by not playing until the whistle.

Okay yeah all of you are right and I'm completely wrong. Kelvin Benjamin would have been an absolute beast had he not been drafted by the Panthers. And yep, Smitty was once in a lifetime but you of course miss the whole point of me saying if KB had the same heart as Smitty he would have been  the greatest ever due to the genetic he was gifted with. But yeah it was all the Panthers fault that KB had zero heart or drive and looking at it any other way is ridiculous. Bottom line is KB didn't have even a shred of heart and would have fizzled out the exact same way on any team.

Think? He was there, he touched him. The interception was overturned and called back. It was very obvious. I get that his reaction wasn’t the best but he made physical contact with the DB.

It was an egregious call by the ref who couldn’t have had a better view.

dumb. he would've had prime time future HOFer cam newton throwing to him here. but you're a weirdo shadow racist street preacher cam hater so of course you have this wonky ass take

The take you are responding to is the kind of take that kills me. He has had to deal with concussions and wrestling catches in double coverage while playing with Rodgers. Till this day, I have not seen Cam get a receiver killed the way some of these "greats" have. Not one guy has got his blocked knocked off being a Newton receiver even with the decline in his arm strength.

On another note, our WR coach was jumping up and down for Devante Adams and the next year Stefon Diggs. We wouldn't have had to trade up for either, we just could've taken them where we drafted. Hindsight is 20/20, but wow at those weapons instead of KB and Funchess! This would've changed the entire trajectory of Cam's career and our winning fortunes. Cam won the MVP and went to the Ship with Philly Brown and Tedd Ginn. So this narrative of he was better off with Rodgers is bogus.

Perhaps, but between the refs, our RT getting killed by Miller, our staff's unwillingness to roll him help and the League wanting Manning to get his second ring (see refs), that game was a steep uphill climb when it should not have been.  Bad WR play, or should I say, better WR play would not have been the difference maker in that game.  Keeping Miller off Cam and consistent, FAIR calls by the refs and the outcome probably would have been different.

Having WRs who can quickly win their match up always makes a difference. If we have a receiver who catches the wide open pass from Cam across the middle and takes it for a long gain or to the house that would've made a huge difference. SS absolutely made Talib lose his mind. Philly Brown couldn't even out run him to the pylon. In conclusion, it better WR play would and does make a huge difference as evidenced by player salary.

I mean, for an undrafted kid, Philly Brown was okay.

and he also embarrased Talib in the Super Bowl.  Which is why Talib tried to break his neck. He had 4 catches for 80 yards before getting knocked out in the 3rd quarter.    Talib couldn't handle Philly.  Let's make that clear.  Talib is trash.
