Well, now let's no overdo it!  Remember, it was me that posted that, so consider the source 🤡

I have hopes for Corral.  Right now, I don't want him to start right away.  That has more to do with nightmares of watching QBs get pounded by our OL than any commentary on him.  My concern about giving him PTSD before his third start is complete go away quickly if our improved OL really performs like an improved OL.  I think it will be improved, but I have thought that before and been sorely disappointed. I want to see it.

Corral could be anywhere between out of the league in five years to good starter, but I have more hopes for him than I have had for any of our QBs in a long time.  We'd probably have to go back to Cam's first game or two.  I'm not saying Corral can be Cam, but we have not had a QB on the roster since....or several years before that was worth a lot of hope.

I'd like to seem somewhere around the midseason mark.  Late enough for him to get a feel for things (playbook, speed, etc).   But early enough for their be enough games to really get a glimpse of what might be there.   Hope he gets the 2nd half of the schedule.  But I feel there are high odds of it going 2 other ways too.  He is forced in too early.   Which could hurt or start an every week musical chairs.  Or just too late.  Rhule going Sam for too long.  Then going PJ for too long.  Then getting like the last 2 with Corral.

I agree across the board.  Honestly, there was not a QB in this draft that I think should be starting in September or maybe even October.

Maybe that could be said of last year's class, too, but only because of the situations they were drafted into.  The exception would be Jones.  The others went to varying degrees of major suck or, in Lance's case, a situation that was designed to give him time to adjust.

My hope that we don't bollix up Corral's timeline/development/adjustment hinges on having more experienced coaches that are hopefully allowed to make that call.  But, if the HC's seat is hot, theirs will be warm, too.  Nothing can ruin a young QB like panic.

IMO, if Matt can master the Playbook, he should be the starter. Whenever that happens. Whether sooner, or later. Or not at all.

If Matt allows Matt to be Matt. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Kurt Warner only has sexual intercourse in the missionary position for the sole purpose of procreation.  Probably has a bed sheet with a hole cut in it so him and his wife never actually have to touch each other.

Well then that's his loss for missing out on the joys of doggie and reverse cowgirl but the dude gets lots of hate around here for sure. You should write a letter to his fan club and at least tell him about a few other "positional options". He seemed to take coaching well as a player so maybe you could help him add some more spice to his intercourse game if he is willing to listen.

Lawdy, I hope we get to that point.   And not just with the second and third Matt in that statement, but with Jeremy, Brady, and several others.

I felt like we spent a lot of last year trying to prove 1x4's could be used for floor joists.  Both are very useful, but they are not interchangeable.

IMO, if the line looks as good as it should. Corall should play as soon as he can run a practice.

I've heard him say the same elsewhere. However, he is literally the only one I've heard say that he was bad at the mid level throws.

I wonder if Warner’s comments could be influenced by footage from late in last season when both Corral’s ankles were injured? Greg Costello mentioned anyone evaluating him should look at previous year’s tape as well as last year because he was toughing it out the second half of last season. That could explain some of this.

LOL

warner is a whacko off the field but his story in the NFL is legendary. How can you not respect that. And I love Delhomme but he is not on the same playing field as Warner.

warner is a good analyst too as long as he keeps his personal opinions and social commentary to himself

Care to elaborate.  Do you feel that all athletes should keep their personal opinions and social commentary to themselves?

Start the qb that can beat our defense in practice.  If they can't perform against our first team defense then it doesn't matter which one you throw out there. Opposing defenses will eat them alive.

Also don't hide Sam from preseason games again this year. Remember the whole "We don't want to give too much away playbook wise"?. They literally didn't have anything else to give away, maybe a couple QB runs that teams figured out a whole 3 games into the season

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
