Carolina Panthers

Taylor Moton, RT

Carolina's offensive line was a disaster in 2021, and the Panthers entered the offseason needing four new starters. That didn't include Moton, who doesn't get the acclaim he deserves in part because of the poor quality of play around him. Moton's 1.7% blown block rate was both a career high and eighth best among qualified tackles last season. He's a punishing power run blocker who never comes off the field. There's only so much one good lineman can do, so hopefully Carolina's offensive revamp will let Moton show more of his stuff in 2022.

Horn for me.

It’s a small sample size, but in 95 coverage snaps he only allowed one catch last year, albeit for a touchdown. The national media and opposing teams fanbases don’t seem to recognize how good Horn was when he was on the field.

He was very good for the 3 games he played (3 of the 5 that we won coincidentally), but I need to see more. I can see him start to garner national attention if we win a few.

I'd probably go Shaq today.  Largely because Panther fans universally agree Moton is really good.

Yea, but there are so few of us.

I'm curious as to who the other 28 are (Moton, Kirk, Tagovailoa, Garopollo). Stupid pay wall!

Any Panther's fan could see he was the only good Olineman last year. Hard to be underrated when you standout as the only one of starter quality for more than a year on a unit that has been getting worse...hopefully until this year.

I would have to say Shaq who played in the shadow of 2 greats and never really played completely to his potential until last year.

Im just going to be bold here for the sake of conversations and a different direction. Im going to go with Derrick Brown. I think by season's end, we will have a far different perspective of him.

No he is trash

95 coverage snaps against bottom-tier (at the time) teams. He has potential for sure, but I don't see how he can really be rated at all based on his season being cut short, let alone underrated.

Bottom tier or not, how many CB’s can play 95 coverage snaps and only allow one catch?

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
