Speaking objectively...

This is a really well administered trade when you look at what we gave up and what we're paying.

Speaking personally...

I'm not a Baker Mayfield fan, but I'll hope for the best.

Yea 5 mil and 5th rounder. But its just so hilarious

However I can think of Dak, Russell and Carr that were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd and could come in and play right off the bat.  If they can play they can play, sitting a qb is a strategy from yesteryear

It's like people forgot 3rd round rookie Davis Mills existed last year. Was he great? No. But he showed enough for the Texans to know how to approach this offseason at the QB position.

What would your plan be?  Throwing in Matt before hes ready just because you want him to be is the definition of throwing poo at the wall.

The plan should be, if we truly had a first round grade on him, would be to have Ben M build an offense around MC that wouldnt overwhelm him in week 1 and build from there.  Give him every fuging rep you can in practice and at least see what you have.  At some point in the season you will have an pretty concrete idea if he can play and grasp what you are trying to accomplish.  If so awesome you ahve a cheap qb to build around, if not and he is a disaster draft another one.  This isnt hard

That's short term thinking.

So after this year, you either have to extend Baker for starting QB money, or you have to go into 2023 with Corral as essentially a rookie after getting very few reps in 2022.

Lots of qbs sit and learn their first season.  Especially mid round picks.  If he doesnt learn anything all season because he is hypothetically getting less reps then hes probably not going to be the answer anyways.

While I was fine with not getting him at all, this salary is not prohibitive if he flops and the team sucks. Corral could still play just like he might've before and Carolina has someone who has shown way more than Sam.

Bit of an eye-roll at Rhule, but a much more friendly move than their other boneheaded QB pickups.

desperation move. I don't mind the price of a 2024 conditional 5th, but doesn't feel like there's any sort of long term vision. What good does winning 8-9 games this year instead of 5-6 do?

Well... Winning 9 games is better than 5 games. Math!

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
