Fire Rhule - for real/non-spastic

This is not reactionary to the preseason, rather a new thread because at the end of the day—we have the worst coach in the league.

He seems like a nice guy and appeases his superiors. So there’s that. So alrighty, that’s out of the way…

Nutshell: I would like to use this random thread for people to understand we are basically viewing Rhule below everyone but Meyer at this point. He has exhibited zero nuance for the game and is simply not effective as a coach.  That’s really it. He has a 10-23 record.

Overall, I sense a weird lightness in pressure against this regime. It’s both in the National and local media when they are simply dishing out a horrible product.

Please end this Dave.

I would love to see Baker get it going with other chefs.

thanks—

I don't even see him as a nice guy. Maybe nice to his family and friendly with a handful of vets he can't afford to piss off. Otherwise a shyster opportunist. If Tepper wasn't embarrassed he would be gone. If another coach came in looking for success Erving and Jordan would actually feel like their jobs were threatened and work harder. Etc...everyone agrees but a handful of contrarians that just like to argue for fun

I legitimately do not know what he does well as an NFL head coach. Can anyone tell me?

From what I can see he’s a smooth talker who grifted a naive new owner into giving him a ridiculous contract with little to back it up.

He had 1 season of NFL experience prior to being hired as an NFL head coach, as an assistant position coach no less. Not a coordinator, not even a position coach, an assistant position coach.

He never beat a ranked team as head coach at Baylor, and beat one at Temple (and it was ECU which doesn’t really count)

What has Rhule done to deserve to be where he is? “Rebuild” the Baylor program? They didn’t beat a ranked team while he was there!

It is no surprise the Panthers have struggled since he arrived. It’s going to be another rough season. The schedule is harder than last year and I don’t see this team pulling out a miracle season.

If he is the head coach next year, without a playoff appearance in 2022, I might just give up on this team until he’s gone.

He refuses to develop a rookie QB. That realization alone should be all it should take to fire this joker.  All the talk of development and he hasn't developed anybody. The QB situation should have been the first thing he concentrated on when he got here. He refuses, thinking someone else's used underwear will always do the trick.

We are not winning the conference, stop it. Perfect time to get your rookies acclimated. We should have been strengthening and developing the only QB we've drafted since the Rhule error. Instead he was fitted for bubble wrap, like I've said here many many times, before he even got a chance.

He was thrown in as an afterthought without reps or contact or simulation of full speed. He threw Corral under the bus. Nobody will ever be good enough with Matt Rhule in charge. He thinks this is some kind of country club. He IS the limitation.

The tickets have already been bought and we, the fanbase, have already been strapped into the seats for this ride. Might as well cheer now and hope we're proven wrong this season.

So, that's what I'm going to do and I've been a Rhule critic from his first season on. At the end of the day, the Panthers mean more to me than my opinion of the coach being the right one. I've said it before, if he can right this ship and get us to the playoffs, then he'll make a believer out of me.

I don't see us doing it, but I would like to be wrong about that.

I agree with you totally.  Tepper has made a big mistake and, for some odd reason, doesn't feel he needs to correct it.  It's what we have and the only way you will get to Tepper is quit buying the product.  I hate to say it because I love watching the Panthers hanging on for hope.

It should have happened at the end of last season and I can't see it happening until at least 10 games are played OR we are being thoroughly embarrassed in our effort to become the first 0-17 franchise in NFL history.

For now, Rhule is our HC until such time as he isn't.

Truism unfortunately.

Excellent points, my guitar picking friend.

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
