If the panthers go DJ, robbie, TMJ, shi, shenault, higgins. They'll have 5 WRs that don't play any snaps on special teams unless they carry 7 and keep zylstra?. I guess they could cut the fat somewhere else but still need to fill depth on the DL. Makes me think one of robbie or TMJ might actually get dealt.

I dont see the Higgins hype. I hear good things out of camp but the production in games I havent seen enough justification to keep him over someone like Zylstra. I would like to hang on to Zylstra instead. He had some clutch catches for us last year and also plays special teams.

Higgins wins off associations to new QB. Already established connection and from everything I have seen he can do what Zylstra can do only better. Z was good and did everything asked of him but he's limited..

At 6'1" 227# he's honestly built a lot more like a RB than a typical WR. He ran a 4.58 40 at the Combine which is pretty decent for his size but what was a bit eye opening is that he didn't do any other drills (other than the bench - 17 reps). You would've liked to have seen that 40 time paired with some decent agility numbers and leaps showing explosion. For him to show up and run a 4.58 and not do anything else kinda tells you that his straight line speed was his best measurable trait and it turned out to only be marginal.

Honestly, I have no idea what kind of football team they are trying to build here.

Sure would feel better if I thought THEY knew what kind of football team they are trying to build here.

Sometimes I still get the feeling that Fit is the "in on every deal" kind of guy that other GMs abuse.

The more I've thought this over...  we may have just gotten Deebo-lite for a conditional late round pick.  I know Jags fans and some twitterers were down on him, but again, he was highly regarded as a steal in his draft and regardless of how he got it, 60 catches and 600 yards in the NFL is legit productions, especially when compounded with and considering it was on a dysfunctional Jags team.

I love this move.

And with all the talk about dropped passes, Debo actually had more last year.

I forgot about the McAdoo connection. So, the narrative around him says he was good in his rookie season but not as good last year. He scored the 5 TDs under McAdoo in his rookie season. I guess he knows how to use him correctly and can make him fit.

We could list him as an RB and put 6 other WRs on the list. What if our RBs were CMC, Foreman, Chuba and Laviska? I know Chuba can't catch but he can run okay and isn't he returning kicks too? That other RB, can't think of his name at the moment, didn't look very good the other night.

With Zane, they may need the roster spot (if he can make it back) and with Sam they definitely do as he will be IR'd after making the 53. Get a guy like Laviska they could potentially cut Chubba, Roberts and another WR like CJ, using Smith and Laviska in KR/PR, Laviska as the 5th WR and the 3rd RB. Kind of takes 2 (maybe 3) spots & turns it into 1 roster spot. I think this moved is out of necessity.

I also like Zylstra, but Higgins definitely seems like the bigger receiving threat that can make things happen on offense.  I didnt love the signing and was familiar with him from the Browns, but he has really sold me through camp and preseason.  He reminds me a bit of Jairus Wright, who we had a few years ago.

I referenced that yesterday.  The in on every deal mantra.   I mean, clearly you wouldn’t want to be in on every deal.   That becomes foolish at a point.
