The OC version got a lot of praise. The head coach? Not so much.

I am thinking that Rhule has a big say in what kinds of plays we run. Our offense has looked basically the same under 3 different OCs the only common factor is Matt Rhule.

Its like we are running a high school/small college scheme in the NFL. It is incredibly easy to diagnose and shutdown. Same routes and concepts all game, he might be using the coach madden suggestions to run his O.

The fact that Mayfield didn't get a ton of time to study the playbook may very well be the cause of this. As the season goes on it should change. If it doesn't ooof.

I mean,  McAdoo was literally run out of the league from calling plays for being painfully predictable and unimaginative on offense.

Fair odds it’s largely just McAdoo being McAdoo.   And Rhule being Rhule.  It’s not a good combo given what we know of the two

I remember Gianta offenses were pretty stagnant under McAdoo, with Eli Manning as QB.  not sure why we expected anything different

That must have been when he was HC, not OC.  Because when he was OC they did not have any trouble moving the ball, especially thru the air.  Manning had career years both years McAdoo was the Giants OC.

Both. They tend to give Manning all the credit. I’ll wait for someone to dig into past game film to see if this is correct.

The OC version was under a long time offensive HC.  That was one of the most over the top micromanagers in coaching.

as HC McAdoo actually got to do whatever he wanted with the O.  And it was horrific.

I also think it is framed poorly to call those career years for Manning.   They weren’t really career years.  They sucked and couldn’t win.  And Manning har to pass all game because they sucked and were always trying to comeback.

    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
    • Dan's been talking about upgrading CB since beginning of free agency
    • I'm more of a Hornets fan than I am a Panthers fan, I've watched a ton of this franchise the last 20 years. I post all day on RealGM. Don't get your hopes up, this is setting us up for a 20 point loss to the Heat and a swift end to the season. Spoelstra has always solved us, the Heat have two bigs that we have no answers for, and Jaquez is a certified Hornets killer that always plays us like he has a grudge on us. The Hornets being a top 10 team all year and a top 5 team the last half of the year and then flat out missing the playoffs is incredibly on brand for this crappy, horrendous franchise. I would love to be proven wrong. But I've suffered enough to know this little scheme the team is pulling. We finished 2 games out of 6th and guaranteed playoffs, and we blew two games to the Pacers and Nets earlier in the season, when they weren't trying to win. It's just who we are, Hornets DNA
