We all owe Teddy Bridgewater an apology

I still can't understand why the team didn't just roll with Teddy last season unless Rhule genuinely believed that Sam was going to be the difference maker.

My guess would be because Bridgewater probably didn't buy his college bullsh-t.

If you think back, there was evidence of that in his pressers.

The problem with Teddy Bridgewater isn't Teddy Bridgewater.  It's basically a synopsis of the entire Rhule era.

We signed Teddy as a bridge QB to a draft pick.  We signed him for THREE YEARS.  Then, after one year Rhule convinced himself that they were closer than they were and started moving heaven and earth to get "anyone but Teddy".

Imagine if we had actually kept everything.

Kept Bridgewater.  He'd be our QB this year.

Kept our picks.  What would all those picks have turned into?

Kept our salary cap.  We've been burning cap on BAD QB's for the entire Rhule tenure.

Stop it.

Maybe Bridgewater isn't the guy.  But he was good enough for us to win games once the rest of the team was built.  He would never take us to the playoffs, but we could have winning seasons.  Players, agents, coaches and executives around the league could look at the team and go "All they need is a QB".

I could do with a few winning seasons around here, even if we aren't really a playoff threat.

Teddy was our best post-Cam QB, but he still wasn't the answer for this team.  He was right about Rhule and practice, though.

And that's the thing...

For the folks who think it's too strong to say we owe him an apology, okay but I'd still say we at least need to acknowledge that he was right.

You mean after we traded him away. No doubt Teddy was right about some things especially with Rhule he had the man pegged. But he always was and should have been a true placeholder for us to draft a quarterback.

The Panthers had a place-holder.

His personality was too big for Fatt Fhule though and, in comparison, made Fatt feel threatened and small.
