HOPE And FACTS.. The last two times we finished dead last in the league, it worked out pretty well.

You must have not been around during draft time and pre draft in 2011. I remember it like it was yesterday, nearly EVERYONE and all the experts said that Cam was a HUGE risk and reach because he just ran a one read option at Auburn and it would take years for him to be NFL ready.

Mel Kiper and Mcshay were saying (no I’m not even joking) that we should draft Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker over Cam because they were more pro ready day 1.

Stroud, Young and even Levis are way more NFL ready now then Cam was coming out of Auburn.

No team listens to Kiper and Mcshay.  Locker and Gabbert weren't even taken in even the top 7.

2001 record: 1-15

Drafted: Julius Peppers HOFer

2003- Super Bowl Appearance

2010 record: 2-14

Drafted: Cam Newton franchise QB

2013: NFCS winners and playoff berth

2015: SB Appearance

Say what you will about this organization but not many teams out there with the exception of maybe the Chiefs can say they have reached the SB not once but twice just a few or couple short years after finishing dead last in the league.

yay!

Ah yes…I remember it like it was yesterday. My first real draft following the panthers at 16 years old.

I hated the Cam pick. He seemed like a dude with a big ego who would be too caught in the lights to develop but boy was I wrong and thank god!

Hindsight maybe 20/20 but the way Cam single-handedly bulldozed the SEC made it so obvious. Young seems to be the closest sure thing. However, seeing Tua get hurt and how even a freak of nature like Cam was beating to the ground has me worried.

Please pay attention, that’s not where we are. We are trying to win more than five games and get back to mediocrity.

Teams that set their sights on mediocrity stay there.

2 to 3 years to go from bottom feeder to contender.

Mediocrity is never the destination for a champion.

It's funny because the Huddle, most of it, didn't want Cam. I wanted Cam, but guys on here were listing anyone except Cam.

You have to take a shot a QB in the draft and HOPE it pans out. I want CJ in the draft, but no feels certain about anything. Hope is all you have when a coach ruins your team.

    • All I can say is... I have some happiness off the rags choking and losing to the Panthers. Hopefully the Western conference team wins the Stanley cup, but now I can be 100% uninvested in the playoffs
    • Yep. It was an obvious red flag that a lot of people ignored. The results/scores in preseason don’t matter, but individual performance very much does and individually, we looked like the least talented team in the league and it carried over.
    • Sorry, but in 2015, we didn’t look like poo to the extent of 2023. People who said it’s just preseason were completely wrong. Simple as that. 2015 was a veteran lead team. It was Cam’s 5th year and Luke’s 4th. Even our OL was 80% the same (added Oher) as the great run to finish 2014 with a playoff win. That year can be labeled as preseason doesn’t matter because I’m sure we rested vets and well, Ron/Mike weren’t putting in special plays, etc. I absolutely don’t recall a bunch of us saying that Turner was getting killed on one on ones or that Luke was completely out of position or that Norman was hurt again but probably fine. The only thing that was right about the 2023 preseason is that the minority of us who saw it, were correct that we A) should have been making Young and others play 100% of the reps as there was nothing to hide and B) the preseason means nothing was a bunch of BS trying to stay optimistic when it was obvious that we had way less good talent than the rest of the NFL.
