woooo we win a meaningless game and that doesn’t change the fact the rams offered a stupid amount of compensation for him. The cowboys traded Hershel Walker for a kings ransom and proceeded to turn those picks into Super Bowls

He is a great young player at a premium position. I lean towards us making that trade (especially looking at the Rams starting to crumble), but I’m definitely not losing sleep over it. I like Burns and think he will be our defensive leader for a while.

yeah, this is where I'm at, too. I do understand why the Panthers didn't want to trade him, but I probably make the trade personally when the 2nd this year got thrown in.

but then we have a huge, gaping hole at DE, which is unlikely to be properly filled next year or who knows in how long.

Thats true.  I didn't want to win said meaningless game. im only speaking on the talent itself. Given if u trade burns u have to draft a replacement who might not even be as good as him. Your spinning your wheels in place when you already have a young pro bowl talent.  Eventually you have to pay someone.

We havd the cap to do it because we sony have an established QB. so why add another hole just to get picks for picks sake. even with said pick your not guaranteed to get someone as good as burns is.

How'd that work out for teams that traded their franchise players like the Jags w/ Ramsey and Jets w/ Adams?

    • Been here a while but rarely post and most of them are smartazz. Mostly lurk just so I can sound informed while hanging out drinking beer in my neighbors garage. Amusingly a Huddle level of knowledge kind of makes you a subject matter expert. Thanks for that.
    • That’s similar as saying MVP Cam is the same as rookie Cam because his mechanics didn’t change. We’re talking about production.
    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
