I’m thinking a ruptured artery or clot knocked loose from the hit. Could have an underlying heart condition like Reggie Lewis but I doubt that since it happened right after the hit.

Yeah, after rewatching, it looks like commotio cordis, if I’m not mistaken, the only way to save the individual is to to use a defibrillator, but commotio cordis only has a 15% survival rate (mainly due to the lack of defibs available).

Pro game? Some guy from the lions died in the 50s on the field of a heart attack.  
 

As bad as it sounds I’ve always figured it was only a matter of time before we saw a death in an NFL game. I hope this isn’t the time but these guys are so big and fast it almost seems inevitable.

My youngest was watching the game and said something about cardiac arrest and I turned it on, forgot it started. I didn’t see the play just the ambulance and they mentioned CPR. 

It’s gotten a lot better, I feel like youth organizations finally started doing something about the issue. Unfortunately when I was playing ball it was when no HS venues carried defibrillators.

That Reggie Lewis death really shook me up as a kid.
