Sam did his part

In playing his way out of Carolina?

Yep.

At the very least that last GWD may have bought him some teams offering a Backup role for him so glad that he was able to salvage his career.

I would be stunned if he remained a Panther but with this ownership and management, I am not going to assume anything.

Drafting a TE in the top 10 is a terrible value.  They have high busts rates and even if they hit they are a lower valued position.  The Falcons took Pitts and while he is solid they have been a bottom tier team since drafting him.  The Lions did it with Ebron and Hockenson and have been bottom tier.

definitely, but I picked it because I think it is our single biggest offensive need other than QB.

I can’t wait for the same people who celebrated these meaningless wins get mad at the amount of picks we trade to move up

If you can tell us , guaranteed, not guessing,  who we will not get to pick now, that we could pick if we had lost, and that player is guaranteed to be the GOAT , HOF ,  I might agree with all you  who wished we lost.

But you can’t. There are bust all along the way at every draft position.

For all you who are saying the Saints were tanking,, show me the player who intentionally let us get to the QB ,, he laid down ..  or their defensive backs that were letting our WR run free ,, etc etc ..

The “ fans “ here that claim they know the future ( best draft picks ) stop wasting your time here , the MEGA millions is really up there,, go use your prediction talent to pick the correct numbers

We almost became a playoff team with a average or below average qb and a decent head coach.  Truth be told, if Horn plays last week and today, we might actually be a playoff team.

Not sure if this means anything, but if Wilks had started the season as the Panthers head coach, chances are that the Panthers would be in the playoffs today.

Welp...

frank, you walked into that one.   lol

Still laughing at the Saints for allowing a QB with a 2.8 rating to defeat them.

They had the entire receiving corps locked down tighter than Darrelle Revis in his Prime.

Did the Saints forget that Sam CAN run?   I mean it's the only real thing he can do WELL.

Somebody over there didn't do their homework.

And I'm still laughing.

It's possible, but maybe not - he still wouldn't have had Darnold until he did, and he was 2-4 before Darnold.

Guess my proposed Jimmy G, Desmond Ridder, Brock Purdy, Aqeel Glass competition in the offseason looks much better than the Mayfield, Darnold, Corral, Walker QB room we saw play out.

how exactly are you taking the 49ers QB room? LOL

In conclusion, I would say this game at least provides the Panthers with the definite off-season player priority.

Quarterback.

Sam Darnold is now tied with Mark Malone for the 9th worst single game passer rating in NFL history.

    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
