I mean, what even is the percentage of coaches that last more than 5 years in one spot? This poo is fuging hard. Of course we aren’t in a great spot right now, that’s why we are hiring a coach in the first place. But acting like this is a uniquely bad situation I just don’t get. Yes we don’t have a QB but that is very normal with these openings. We’re in a bad division, with plenty of draft choices, and in a decent spot in regards to the cap.

In the SB era:

48% of HCs last 5 or more years in one spot.

41% of HCs get at least 2 opportunities.

56% of HCs get their team to the playoffs.

42% of HCs win a playoff game.

13% of HCs win a SB.

Finding a HC is more important than finding a QB, and it's easier to find a good HC who can get you to the playoffs than it is to find a good franchise QB who can win in the playoffs. A good HC can have success with a broader range of QBs. A good clutch QB must have a good HC to make it to the playoffs.

Sometimes a coach & QB just click and it's impossible to duplicate it for either side.

Curious to who Peyton thinks could be his next partner in the current QB landscape.  It's pretty icky.  For some reason, could see him having an interest in Derek Carr though.  He seems like a guy that could really do well in his system.

Here's a wild scenario:

HOU gets Payton, HOU trades (Using Pick 12) and gets their 2nd Carr, they're able to use Pick 2 on Anderson or Carter.

1-Bears-Anderson

2-HOU-Carter

We suddenly have a much better chance at a top QB...

There is a literal 0% chance that the Texans pass on a QB at 2 because they decided to sign Carr, just won't happen, absolutely not even a remote chance of it happening.

No franchise is passing on drafting a top QB prospect to sign 32 year old Derek Carr

Just lolz

With Daniel Jones at QB and third string receivers starting.  The evidence is there that he’s got potential as a play caller. Whether you choose to see it or not is your own issue.

Giants offense is boring. It’s not going to be Mike Kokoshka anyways

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
