Trey Lance?

I'm not that sold on Purdy just yet, but logically speaking, your own statements about him should actually serve as a huge red flag regarding Lance.

Oh I am, if it was just one or two games I'd agree with you, but it's been 6 games and now a playoff game.

He just has "it" and has that moxie to him that you need to succeed at this level.

Could he end up crapping out?

Sure, nobody is a sure thing, but I think he's shown more than enough for the Niners to fully commit to him as their QB of the future with the one exception of them bringing in Brady for a year and let Purdy learn under him as his backup and take over the following year.

It would be near-insane to not at least investigate, especially if you don't have to give up a #1 for  him. Every team needing a QB will be and there's way too many of those. SF will try to claw back the picks they gave up to get him or the picks they gave up for CMC--someone might just do it.

If I'm Houston, maybe I send one of my 1sts next year (mine or CLE's, whichever is lower). That leaves me with 2 1sts this year.

That being said, the time to ask for him may have been in the CMC trade, which clearly SF has won (at least so far, and it isn't even close). The second best time might be now. We have Huddlers ready to use picks in people like Hooker, Duggan, McKee, Nix, etc...may as well use those picks on Lance. Risk/reward is probably the same.

Fitt would have to go back to his draft grade. Check out the injury and how he’s recovering plus if it’s too expensive to move up for a QB in this draft.

Id rather go into the the year with Lance and Corral battling than Darnold and Corral if we could get him for our late second.

Shane Steichen would be the best option to develop him if we went that route

Some QBs blossom faster than others. Trey Lance did not have Christian McCaffrey, either. I'm not saying he is definitely destined for greatness, but he may be. There have been many QBs to have it click for them a little later.

Kittle also missed some games too for Lance if I remember correctly.

Again, this to me just doesn't make sense and a couple people are saying it.

In what world is it them not being interested anymore in Lance?  This isn't a Zach Wilson situation by any means.

He looked decent in his limited playing time given him having only played one year in D2 and not having played at all the year before being drafted.  He's shown nothing to say he is more likely to be a bust than not and we're not talking about giving up early round picks for him either.

The Niners know they have a window to win right now, what good does it do them to sit on a backup QB for another year or two and lose him for nothing when they could draft some players who can help them right now?

If they traded 3 first rounds picks for him and think he is still a legit QB then why would they trade him? His ceiling is still higher than Purdy’s. If they are willing to trade him away (especially for cheap) then buyer beware.

Can't stay healthy so the rest doesn't really matter. I'd rather us just pass and take a swing on a guy more likely to be available.

It's not like the 49ers have to get rid of him. Purdy replaces Jimmy G and they roll next year like this year to give Lance another chance to try and not bust. With his contract I don't see the rush to dump him unless they know he is unsalvageable or they get a ridiculous offer that shouldn't be coming.

Lol Trey Lance.... I remember not too long ago when the arm chair gm's on here were ready to trade up to get him.

Who wanted to trade up? For quite a while it was assumed he would be the one quarterback that could fall.

Based on a few games where he performed decently?  So when Howell has an average start to the 2023 season, can we call him a bust?

Performed decently while Mr. Irrelevant looks like Tom Brady in that same offense with the same weapons. Shanahan is brilliant and they have elite YAC weapons everywhere.
