only david tepper could fire his head coach early, focus on up and coming you offensive gurus, and end up picking between steve wilks and frank reich. to call this guys a disaster would be a gross understatement.

jerry richardson was an awful team owner. no matter what the state of the franchise is now, jerry should still have been forced to sell because he was also an awful person. with that all said, if you focus on just football and nothing off the field, he was a superior owner to tepper in every single way.

I told you from the start it was going to be an experienced HC. The young OC interviews were to just pick their brains. Why Johnson dropped out.

I’m not saying I love these choices. Steichen seems like the guy with the highest ceiling. The guy who could take you to a Super Bowl. But it’s quite possible he doesn’t want to work for the Panthers. An interview is a two way street. The candidate is interviewing who they will work for as well. Might be why Ben Johnson dropped out.

It’s just as important to hire someone who WANTS the job as well as be qualified and motivated, all that stuff. Rhule didn’t really seem like he wanted to be the Panthers head coach but Tepper threw so much money at him he couldn’t say no. Even after he was fired he said the one thing he’d change from his tenure was NOT TAKE THE JOB. What an asshole that guy was.

My point is that the Panthers can do a lot worse than hiring Frank Reich or Steve Wilks and it’s nice to at least have the prospect of having a proper NFL caliber coaching staff again.

I guarantee you the same posters who aren't happy with Reich and wanted the new, flashy,  young OCs, are the same posters who probably should have spent their walmart check on bills and groceries, but went out and bought a fugin new Xbox because of the specs

Good Offense stats do not mean automatic good HC

who knows, maybe these interviews maybe they poo their pants and didnt seem like they could take on being the face of the franchise a whole lot more responsibility in that than sitting in a booth calling plays

Behavior concerns based on the interview with the Vikings last year. He was never an option here in Carolina and wasn't on Teppers radar. I mean shoot, his agent had to basically beg to get that phone conversation. 😂

its Ok to get enamored by a young OC, but this franchise already whiffed on inexperience..  time to get a grown ass experienced guy at the helm

putting up good offensive stats does not mean you will be a good HC.  theres a hell of a lot that goes into being a HC.

let the offensive mind with experience and success lead the ship.

Was reading the same thing about Denver.  They are wary of hiring a coordinator as a 1st time HC as they have failed 3 times in a row trying that.

if thats the case its a joke. i can guarantee you if david tepper ever were to win a super bowl, it now will have to be after he hired at a minimum 3 head coaches. reich or wilks wont sniff pone here. what a disaster.

Best coach to ever WANT this job.

Stupid is as stupid does. Par for the course as far as this organization goes.

I'm just hoping Reich will succeed because THAT'S our new coach now.

Reich is third on my list behind Steichen and Payton.  I was listening to a PODCAST yesterday saying it was Steichen job to lose.   I hope we hold out until the Eagles are out of the playoffs.

I do believe that if Wilks is retained, we will definitely have a new OC.  I cringe at the thought of McAdoo being our OC in 2023.

    • Hornets up 11 after one. 36-25.  Foul trouble brewing though  Diabate has two Miller has three.
    • I think Lane is spot on and I do respect his opinions.    ROUND 1:  Best value:  Edge, Wide Receiver, Cornerback.  I predict overdrafting OT and a run on edge will drop WRs and maybeCB  lower and a great value could land in our lap.  Could we do it again?  In the words of Brittany Spears, “Oops.” Corner?  Well, I think we will move Smith-Wade to FS at some point.  Smart, calls coverages.  Jackson is gone after 2026. . Get a nickel later, however, unless a stud CB falls. Please don’t draft TE here. Edge?  On paper, we are strong, but you can never have enough pass rushers.  We will leave awesome at one position that we may not have listed as a primary need: Edge, CB, or WR. ROUND 2:  Best Value: Linebacker.  I do not see us drafting another position here.  LB–Hill (longshot), Rodgriguez, Golday. Edge (second tier–Height, Jacas, Moore, Young, Howell–would be hard to overlook, but our GM is a former LB)  S A Haulcy is a darkhorse possibility. ROUND 3:  Best Value:  Defensive line. Halton (OK), Jackson (Fl. St), Durant (Penn State).   ROUND 4:  Best Value: Center.  Slaughter, Hecht, Jones, Lew, Coogan, Jones, Zuhn.  This is the only real option.  We should take our center in round 4. ROUND 5:  Best value:  They will be looking for a developmental OT here if not addressed sooner.  Jude Bowery ((BC), D. Crownover (RT-Tex AM), Wagner (RT-Notre Dame) seem promising.      This is the way.  Great summary and I feel its on the right wave length.
