@amcoolio

btw, I saw your ninja edit just now.   When I say "what have you done for me lately?", I meant it in terms of the season overall he had.  This strange obsession with focusing on ONE sh*tty game out of the games he played this past season is absurd.   It's like people wanted him to fail so their narrative lives on or something.    🤔

Pff. Whatever.   He's gone so let's see if Brissett or whomever other Vet the Panthers sign becomes the new whipping boy around here.

hey. I'm not denying he was sh*t in that game.

But if we were to judge QBs on just ONE sh*tty game, there would be no QBs left in the league.

And don't be like mrINcompletely and attempt to whatabout'ism his past seasons where he's had sh*t for coaching and sh*t for O-Lines (something that's Ancient news and not relevant to the here and now).     Last season was the first time, he's had both that weren't sh*t.    And while he didn't exactly light it up like a Franchise QB would (thus proving that at best, his future is to be a backup in the league), he was decent enough to give the team a chance which is all one can ask for.     That is what I will acknowledge about him.

Now, do I think he should be brought back?    No.

I think this team could use a Brissett instead (and hope that Fitts goes after him instead of paying up the nose for a Derek Carr).

But like i stated before to frank :  You can NOT want Sam back but still acknowledge he was Decent for us for 5 of those 6 games.

Sam is better and has higher ceiling than Jacoby.

Its not an obsession, I'm just done with those types of games, from ANY Panthers QB. Its like we are in a different football league than the NFL, I don't understand how our QB play can be so incredibly bad. I don't care if you throw interceptions or make bad decisions, just throw the damn ball and complete a damn pass. Lets agree to move on.

NAILED IT.

(although I would rather the pass be completed to one of OUR guys.  lol )

Good interview. I didn't like how often he brought up Tepper's name when talking about evaluating the draft class as well as the free agent class. Dave, you've hired some sharp football people. Let them do their thing and stay out of it.

Being disappointed that Wilks didn't get the job, and thinking they hired the wrong head coach are not the same thing.

Yeah, Beasley'e putting how own spin on it.

Several players have mentioned being disappointed for Wilks but also clarified they have no issue with Reich. Some have even said they're excited.

    • the problem is if we're waiting for Cam v2, we're going to be waiting decades longer.  our best hope is that bryce is better than we all think he is and that canales is able to work some serious magic with him and the scheme to help him live up anywhere close to the potential we thought he had. he's a smart kid. we just have to be able to have a situation that allows him to use his smarts.  the truth with cam was that een he had to have a system tailored for his skillset coming into the league. the difference between him and luck (which was the debate in '09 when we thought luck was an option) was that with luck, he could be placed in any offense and it would work...hence the higher floor he had  than cam. cam, though, needed an offense that was built around him to reach his potential. he could have done alright in a more pro-style offense, but to reach his ceiling (which was seen by a lot of people as being higher than luck). i don't think having to have an offense tailored around what you can and can't do well is a problem for people who can develop around them...after they've truly identified what those can and can't items are. we didn't have that last year. i think we have that this year. we want a guy who can carry a team on his back, but those kind of guys are very rare. we don't need to spend our time trying  find that guy, because even when you have them there's no guarantee that they will be enough.  championships are won, quite often, by teams who learn to compensate for less than the greatest QB play. you have a great defense and can protect the ball while wearing out the other defense and you've got a chance.  we don't need Bryce to be superman (despite where we drafted him and what we paid to get him). we just need him to be able to run (manage) a good offense.
    • The Panthers aren't building a Bryce Young roster. Alabama didn't recruit personnel to fit a Bryce Young scheme. Canales' approach is to build an NFL roster (which they didn't have last season) and then cater his scheme and playcalling to what the players do best. The team is not pigeon holing itself into an offense that doesn't fit any other QB. Their goal this off-season was to provide NFL average or better talent to the offense - period. Very little to do with matching personnel for  Bryce Young's skillset or lack thereof.
