Rhule didn't want Fields.

The general belief is that Fitterer didn't either but It's also possible he just ultimately tagged along because Rhule had final say and was known to just keep badgering people till they "agreed" with whatever he wanted to do.

Doubt we'll ever know if Fitterer felt any different but it doesn't really matter now.

Yeah I should have said in my opinion.

The other thing that makes this take ultra silly is thinking the Bears, who know they don’t have a good line, would move on from Fields to draft a kid who plays QB at 185 pounds with a small frame.

He’d get killed behind that line.

Yeah, they'd be calling in the homicide squad by week 6.  Their OL was awful, especially up the middle.

It would be a very Bears thing to do, though.  Ignore a glaring weakness and trot out a smaller, slighter-built QB to deal with it.

Hes 1-3 in the post season while averaging 55% completion percentage and 225 passing yards.  Hes thrown 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in those games.  Hes rushed for 1 touchdown and had 5 fumbles.  He only lost 2 of those which still puts him at 4 touchdowns and 7 turnovers in his 4 playoff games.

That's partial credit at best. Where is the "versus really good teams" part of that equation? Your claim, if you remember.

I really don’t think Fields is the right fit for the system that Reich has. Supposedly, Rivers and Wentz were QBs he wanted (in addition to Foles). Eason and Ehlinger were brought in under him as well. Matt Ryan being up for debate whether it was him or Ballard, and Luck was already there.

I only see a few QBs that fit this mold. Carr, Levis, Stroud, Young and it’s questionable whether the last two will be there. Even if we sell the farm, good chance somebody else in a worse position (Ex.Washington) does too.

I know there are a lot of people wanting Richardson or Fields, or another mobile QB. But just speaking from facts, it doesn’t match the pattern Reich has.

Hmm…wishful thinking IMO.  The top 3 guys are going very early IMO.  I think it is basically a sure thing the first 2 picks will be QB.

Things always bounce around too and the first tier of QBs shuffle around after the combine and pro days.

Last year mock drafts at this time had Pickett, Willis, and Corral going in the first round.

I do agree that the first two will be gone early.

My guess:

Young Top 3

Stroud Top 3

Levis Top 10

McKee- Mid Second

Richardson- no telling. Could be late first could be third round. Complete wild card.

Reich has poor taste in QB's. I hope that changes because his guys aren't working. Maybe need to focus on a different style of QB.

I think Fields would be the 4th QB taken if he would have been in this draft class

Fields is the best runner in this class and statistically, in terms of accuracy, mopped the floor with guys like Richardson and Levis. At worst he would go third. However, he’s got better size , speed and arm strength compared to Young and he’s got a better arm, legs and build than Stroud.  College Fields was better than all these kids. Even Kiper has said Fields would be QB1 in this class.

Really? His college stars were pretty great every year and that Clemson game was epic. I think the Jets pick him at 2 in a draft redo and I think he battles Young/Stroud for that top pick this year. He has also flashed potential with a horrible supporting cast in the NFL. That shows me the game isn’t too big for him. I would trade pick 9 for him and not think twice about it. Imagine him with our OL, Reich continuing his development, and some actual weapons. That up tempo offense could be real fun with Fields running it.

IMO, I just think Stroud, Young, and even Richardson have higher ceilings. I don't hate Fields and he is better than what we have at the moment so I could see the team possibly trading for him depending on who the OC is

These 1st round picks get so many chances to fail with multiple teams. Complete waste. If a 6th round pick were to play like Fields, he would have been gone and forgotten after year one. Brady and Purdy never stand a chance if they'd perform like Fields or Darnold in their first year as a starter.

Case Keenum and Brian Hoyer are better than Fields in their 30s. Go get Cooper Rush or Taylor Heinicke in their prime.

Forget about Fields and Lance. Let other teams do the Darnold/Mayfield 1st round failure experiment with them.

Well the playoffs are most important to me personally.  I'd prefer a qb who doesnt get shut down in the playoffs but I will look up the stats against top 10 defenses later.
