REPORT: CJ Stroud is reportedly the “apple” of the Carolina Panthers’ eye at the moment.

Before reich was hired, I was saying that the Panthers wanted Stroud and were willing to go to #1 to get him.

With Reich hired, this is much more likely.

They will have to basically throw away EVERY BIT of their Draft Capital to get Stroud, imo.

Stroud is the only draftable QB for us in the this draft.  Honestly, I would rather go get someone like Gardenr Minshew as a place holder to battle with Corral for this upcoming season than force a pick, let alone a trade for Levis or AR15.

If we cannot get Stroud for a reasonable price; remember we still need an edge rusher, MLB, TE, and CB, we should trade back in the first and acquire an additional 1st for next year.  If we had two first round picks next year we could easily trade up towards the top of the draft with a Godfather package while having enough cap space to build out our roster holes with Free Agents.

I'm more sold on a group of Caleb Williams or Drake Mayes than I am of Stroud, Young, Levis, Richardson.

I think both of they guys next year are lightyears better than the guys coming out this year.  Seems like that's what we say every year though lmao.

But yea, I'd much rather deal with a current player than waste a pick on Levis or Richardson.

Honestly, I don't hate the idea of trying to get Carr.. Assuming with can get LV to take some of that salary.

I'd rather take Anthony Richardson and not mortgage our future on an Ohio State QB. How many more draft picks do we have to give up? Richardson may take time to develop but his stats are nearly identical to Josh Allen's at Wyoming, he makes the same mind blowing throws, he has speed, size, etc. You could probably run a traditional offense with him as well as some of what the Ravens and Bills run.

Give me Richardson over Stroud along with the rest of our draft picks.

He is a free agent this year.  No way he supplants Hurts unless Hurts holds out for a new deal

And that's my point.

Who else do the Eagles have as someone who can reliably back up Hurts if he should...if you'll pardon the pun...get hurt?

You would think they'd want to hold onto Minshew just as an insurance policy or something.

That wasn’t the only reason we didn’t want Payton.. Picks to a rival, Full control of the roster demands and a 20 million dollar a year salary might also be a issue.. Concerning Payton .. Which it seems is making alot of teams back off..

Full control seems to be an issue. Money is no issue and it never got to the point of actual compensation. Just a rumor of what it would take which was a 1 and something else.

Biggest needs that can be satisfied in the draft are WR LB and RB. Young talent at those positions are deep this year and way cheaper than signing in FA. If a QB falls in our lap Reich and Fitt like so be it. If not get BPA while trying to fill needs simultaneously. I for one wouldn’t mind another bad season if it meant a shot at Caleb Williams next year or a surprise trade for Burns during this draft to get sexier this year and next. If we did trade him Luke Van Ness or Andre Carter ll would be awesome to get to supplant if this scenario played out.

Hell no to USC qb's. No WR, LB or RB in the top 10 either.

    • Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role. With the 6-foot-4 All-American likely to take on the bulk of the volume from Young, Legette should have some cleaner shots to break out downfield and in the box score.     https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/06/panthers-wr-xaiver-legette-top-breakout-candidates-2025/83475176007/?taid=681a4610ede05d000149b376&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
