Panthers and CJ

IMO

For the panthers to get CJ Stroud they would need to move up to #3 pick with Cards to get a head of the colts, #5 pick with Seahawks, or #6 with Lions ahead of raiders and falcons!

Our new QB coach Josh McCown (which I believe will make a great coach) is very high on CJ, and I feel he’s the mostly like QB to become a franchise QB in this draft!

We’ll have trade up to 1.

If we trade up to 3 the Colts will trade up to 1.

The Colts obviously don’t want to part with two future 1’s to move up 3 spots so if Carolina wants it they can probably have Chicago’s pick

Chicago needs as many picks as they can get. I’d be ok falling to 9 and taking one of the LT’s for an extra 1st in 2025

For the bears to even consider going back all the way to 9 the starting point is 3 firsts and probably 2 seconds to even open up the dialogue

Chicago might not want to trade back all the way to 9 though. A couple people have floated the idea of us moving up to #3 and then up to #1 from 3 but I can't imagine how much capital that would take.

IF and I mean IF CJ is the guy we think is the next Burrow, we have to trade up to 1 for him. It would be so easy for another team to jump us if we get to pick 3 or 5. We should probably do it before the draft to prevent any chaos. If we can do it and keep our 25 1st it will be a success IMO. 24 1st is probably certainly gone unless we trade a player like Burns.

@rebelrouserposted this in the draft forum. It’s definitely interesting…

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
