This is my take for now as well. Chicago can’t drop lower than 2 if they want Anderson now.

Didn’t read every page so forgive me if already mentioned. But was David Wesley ever charged with racing Bobby Phills? If he was, I don’t recall it ever impacting his ability to keep playing. While tragic for sure, only reason Carter slides is questions about maturity. It’s not like he’s getting a jail stint.

"David Wesley was charged in 2000 with misdemeanor reckless driving in the crash that killed his friend and teammate Bobby Phills. A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report said Phills was speeding at more than 100 mph (160 km/h) when Phills lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a car. The report said both Phills and Wesley were driving "in an erratic, reckless, careless, negligent and/or aggressive manner".[9] In a non-jury trial, a judge acquitted Wesley of the charge of racing Phills.[10]"

No it won't.  But they were saying yesterday on nfl network that teams already had character concerns about him prior to this incident.  So he may have been off some teams boards already due to that alone.

I think he should be given the same legal consequences that anyone else would get.  I do think what he and his friends did was incredibly stupid and reckless.  They put the lives of other innocent people at risk.  It is frightening to think that you or I could be driving down the road and be killed by idiots driving over 100 mph dodging from lane to lane.

I would not want that guy on my team.  A couple of our new coaches have mentioned how important it is to have players who are smart.  I agree.  And as I said earlier...would be hard to trust him. 

My guess is that he will get on a team when he legal situation is cleared.

I doubt he falls out of the top 10.  He is an incredible talent and the nfl doesnt care about dlineman with character concerns.

This is an interesting point, from a legal standpoint at least.  He was obviously speeding but he was behind that car and they caused the crash.  Legally I'm not sure he had to STAY but could be wrong.  Now, morally and character wise, it's majorly messed up to leave people behind like that that were in an accident.

Per The Athletic:

A police investigation found that LeCroy and Carter “were operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing shortly after leaving the downtown Athens area at about 2:30 a.m. The evidence demonstrated that both vehicles switched lanes, drove in the center turn lane, drove in opposite lanes of travel, overtook other motorists and drove at high rates of speed, in an apparent attempt to outdistance each other.”

The ACCPD also reported that LeCroy was “traveling at about 104 miles per hour” shortly before the accident and her “blood alcohol concentration was .197 at the time of the crash.”

The investigation concluded that “alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving and speed were significant contributing factors to the crash.”

Generally, before making charges the police consult with the district attorney, or whoever would be prosecuting the case. So the decision to charge Carter with two misdemeanors and nothing more would have been made jointly by the police and Athens-Clarke County district attorney. While aspects of the crash investigation are ongoing, this appears to represent finality, at least as far as major developments.

I think lying to the cops repeatedly is the biggest of the issues but he could just chalk that up to being scared after seeing the wreck.  But lying to the cops is bad.

      I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.

      Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.

      The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
