Adam Schefter: Bryce Young is believed to be favorite for #1 for the Panthers right now

Let's stipulate that the team is leaning heavily towards Stroud today... but we are not drafting today.  We have weeks of process to work through before draft day.  At the end of that process, it may still be Stroud... or not.  Evaluations can change based on new information that we are not privy to.  It makes sense to not be clear publicly about any of the four, as the team may yet reach a different conclusion by draft day.

Sounds about right. Do you imagine that they'll trade with Houston and select Richardson if the compensation is enticing enough? I can't see them dropping down to #4.

Feels like it's Stroud and that's that.

There’s no way imo Frank is finally getting his Luck. He expected a good young moldable qb, Luck retired he never recovered in Indy. Even though he’s isn’t talked about like Luck most wound say he’s very pro ready. If you watched the GA game based off how good they were (defensively) most say  he’s the next Joe B this seems like Franks time to shine with good tutelage and weapons let’s play ball.

So you are telling me 5'10 can't see over 6'5 line but 6'3 can see over 6'5? Technically, neither of them can.

It's funny how people think that QBs can see over the line.

I'm 6'3 and I can assure you that I can't see over ppl who are 6'3 let alone taller.

Andy Reid once said & I'm paraphrasing... "QBs don't look over building to throw the ball, they look between the buildings to throw the ball".

The "can't see over the line" thing is very overrated!

Bryce scrambles when he has to, due to pressure & not because he can't see over the line.

There is a big difference between 5-10 and 6-3. I'm 5-10 and anyone 6-5 looks like a giant, but 6-0 tall people are fine. So to a 6-3 person, 6-5 doesn't look gigantic and they would be able to see over them because even when the linemen are hunched over a bit, you will be able to see. At 5-10 those linemen have to be on the ground for you to see.

And yes, I've watched enough of Bryce Young to see him scramble because he couldn't see beyond the LOS. If teams would blitz the A gaps, he would have to escape to have field vision whereas Stroud could stand in there and make a timing through because his vision wasn't obstructed.

If being 5-10 wasn't a hindrence, it wouldn't have taken until Russell Wilson for more of them to be drafted. As it turns out, Wilson and Brees are really still the only successful short quarterback in the modern NFL. Many others haven't made it because they didn't have the skills to overcome that obstacle.

Maybe you don't recall, but what did you have to do to Brees to make him uncomfortable? Double A Gap blitz, muck up the middle of the line, and stand in the lanes. You can't always get away with that when you have a taller, longer QB.

With Young scrambling, much like Tua, you have to be worried about him being thrown down like a rag doll. The only two QB's who are about 6 feet tall playing last year were both knocked out cold at one point or another.

Stroud does remind me a lot of Joe Burrow. People tried to say he was a product of his receivers, but it turns out that wasn't necessarily the case. Even when Chase went down this year Joe skipped a beat against the Browns but was good to go from that game on.

Exactly.  Stroud has been compared to Prescott and Goff.  I think he is the best of each.  That aligns with the coaching styles of several Panther coaches.

Young has been compared to Mahomes and Murray.  I think he is the worst of each.  While Murray has the same height, he is a better runner.  Mahomes has the elusive abilities and accuracy, but he is the best at what he does and Young has not shown to be his equal.

Richardson is the pick for all the Cam Newton fans hoping to clone their favorite son, but if the Panthers were interested in that kind of play, would they not have at least made a play for L. Jackson before trading more assets to Chicago?  I think Jackson is Richardson's ceiling, and that is fine.  I think Vince Young is his floor--yikes.

Levis?  He has the tools, but has not performed as well.  Secondly, he has been compared to Josh Allen.  Coming out of college, Josh Allen was not compared to players of his caliber, so to expect Levis to defy the odds and reach his ceiling (Josh Allen) is such a reach.  According to one source (and I like the comparision) think Jay Cutler instead.  When compared to CJ, there is no comparison.

Richardson's floor is the biggest QB bust since Jamarcus Russel, Johnny Football and Zach Wilson dont have poo on this guy. Dude struggled heavily against a 1-11 South Florida team. Some Panther fans think that he's going to bring back the Cam years but they have heavy rose tinted glasses.

Russell - didnt like to practice at lsu and had a substance problem coming out

Johnny - known entitled douche that was pretty uncoachable and thought the rules dont apply

Wilson - smug arrogant a hole from rich family

I think the character got in the way of those dudes and AR from what it appears is pretty level headed and from his interview is not taking anything for granted.  I love the dude but still want stroud but I most certainly will be following him whenever he plays.   I wanted him at nine but now its cj or bust

I'm guessing that Frank and the gang are looking at that UGA game as what he can be coached up to be. When the biggest knock on Stroud has been how he wilts under pressure, he went out against one of the best defenses in the country (with NFL talent littered across it) and put on his best performance yet. Following that up by putting on a show at the combine only solidified it further.

Can't coach 5'10" up to 6'3"
