Russell Wilson comps

I see a whole lot of this with people talking about Bryce Young.

And yeah, I get it. That's to be expected.

To be honest though, If he's our pick, I don't want Young to be the next Russell Wilson.

I'd much rather he be a shorter, smaller version of Peyton Manning.

Don't want him to be the next Brees or Wilson. Frankly both of those guys can get fuged.

I'd take the brain of Peyton but the early career slipperiness of Russ.

He plays similar to Mahomes and Rodgers, but he gets the Wilson/Brees label because of his size.

I've said before that him being the quarterback of a team who has Sam Mills as a big part of their history is a hell of a story.

As has been said many times, it's not his size that scares me. It's a question of durability.

I don't want him to be Wilson, but Wilson has been fairly durable for the most part.

I'd definitely take that part of his game.

Everybody wants to draw lines around one player as if he is another. BY will have his own mix of traits that show up on the gridiron. Hopefully that package results in other teams praying they get the "next Bryce Young".

Just as an aside, I have come to hate pro comps.

I get the idea behind them but it's gotten kind of ridiculous.

It’s funny how Lawrence got skewered for a similar rookie season to Manning with far worse coaching/team. Used to be fairly common for a rookie to struggle especially starting on a not so great team. I wouldn’t be worried about a “bad” year, it’s likely to happen.
