Chances of our pick, whoever it is, of being a star are low based on nfl history.  But you gotta try.  I think Stroud is the better prospect.  I’m fine with Young though.  But don’t lose sight of the fact that when it’s all said and done, Matt Corral might be better than both.

Oh man, this video by that guy is going to Russel some Jimmies:

"Cam Newton is a crybaby leader. He's not a very good leader when it comes to leading a football team. Numerous players like Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis have been better leaders, Steve Smith has been a better leader for the panthers... The only year where he was an elite QB was his MVP Year."

I think richardson is the guy we will regret drsfting when all is said and done. Most ready to play absolutely not. but in a class where everyone has concerns he has the highest upside and you but on any guy who can be the best ever at any aspect of the game.

It’s possible. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) we just aren’t in position as a franchise to take that kind of gamble. With the South winnable - it makes more sense for us to go with the day 1 starter.

I would be fine with either one tbh. If Young actually doesnt last long, we will be right back to where we are. If Stroud doesnt meet expectations, we will be back to looking for another QB.

Richardson is a tough one. There will be between 1-2 years of pain watching another vet QB play before Richardson can really be the expected starting QB. He is a tough choice because it will take longer to determine if he was the right pick or not.

Pretty much sums up my fears on Young

Here's a piece from a different source:

For context, Giddings Is the owner of the NFL's oldest independent scouting service (founded by his father, a former 49ers player many years back). He's described as someone that NFL people frequently call for "an unbiased opinion".

From the article...

So, what do I think of Bryce Young? I didn’t know much about him until I studied him the past few weeks. From what I’d heard, I expected to see Joe Montana-like performances – with precision passing, quick decisions, keen awareness and big plays.

And I did.

But not enough to convince me that he should be the first pick in the draft. In fact, if I were to advise Carolina what to do with the first pick on Thursday night, I’d make my message simple:

Buyer, beware.

...

But part of a fit is evaluating the player’s strengths and weaknesses and figuring out how to utilize the strengths and not expose the weaknesses. With Young, there are three things I didn’t see in college that would have to improve for me to come around to him:

- His deep ball accuracy
- Deep-ball diagnosis (chunk)
- Avoiding the hits he took in college.

Basically, the awareness and diagnosis elements have to go from Red to Blue for him to be a successful NFL quarterback. And if they don’t? Then I have major concerns.

First time I ever seen someone comparing him to Joe Montana?? Huh

Pretty much, there's really nothing that will curb my anxiety with this pick until we start playing some games in September

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
