CJ Stroud: I’m a football player, not a test taker

Once Bryce Young became the Panthers’ expected choice with the first overall pick in the draft, many people installed quarterback C.J. Stroud as the likely choice for the Texans at No. 2 but those odds have shifted in recent days.

Stroud is now ranked behind Will Levis and Will Anderson at sportsbooks around the country and one reason cited for the change of opinion is the leak of scores players received after taking the S2 Cognition test. Those unverified leaks put Stroud behind the other top quarterback prospects with a low score — the cofounder of the test said on The Pat McAfee Show this week that the leaked scores are inaccurate for at least two quarterbacks — but Stroud pushed back on the notion that any test would reflect how he’ll fare on the field.

It’s football, I’m not a test taker. . . . The people making the picks know what I can do,” Stroud said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Stroud is still expected to come off the board early in the draft and the narrative that’s cropped up around him will make his landing spot one of the most closely watched storylines on Thursday night.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
