Im  hoping one of these WRs separates themselves and really takes off as a dominant WR1. Just no idea who that might be.

Now we're in the dead zone of the NFL off season, draft is done and we over 4 months to wait until game 1 of the regular season.  Maybe 3 months to pre season.

Honestly, even if one doesn’t blossom into a #1, hopefully as a whole, the receiving cops can produce like KC.

I was watching YouTube and one of the videos I saw made a great point.  Pittsburgh and Cincinnati drafted a QB and a WR to grow together.  We have Young and Mingo.  If they build a chemistry together they could be our dynamic Duo.

I like the mix in the WR room.  Some solid vets and some younger players that are finally going to break out of the shadows of the Fhule regime.

Tee Higgins will be Young's #1 WR for the future. Speak it into existence!

i can't remember his original account, but he's the numerology guy. he usually posts for a while before he starts spouting all that stuff. didn't get around to it this time in time. he's been known as @Peanut Butter @Aquemini and a lot of other ones. he's one of the most persistent ones we've had in a couple years.

While we might not have a clear WR1, this is probably the deepest WR group that the team has had in a long, long while.

  • Adam Thielen is a proven commodity and also the NFL record holder for most consecutive 100yd games (8)
  • DJ Chark (2018), Laviska Shenault (2020), Terrace Marshall Jr (2021), and Jonathan Mingo (2023) are all big-body WRs that were all selected in the 2nd round of the NFL draft
  • Damiere Byrd and Shi Smith are both speedsters and former Gamecocks that are likely competing for the same roster spot
  • Even the practice squad guys have potential: CJ Saunders and Derek Wright are both practice squad guys from last season that showed promise during the preseason. Preston Williams is 6'5" 215lbs.  There's a whole lot of him.

Honestly, the Panthers have had some of the best success on teams without WR corps that were well-regarded.

1996- Wesley Walls was our best receiving threat as a TE

2003- Probably the best trio in franchise history (Smitty, Moose, & Proehl) but none of them were considered a true WR1 entering the season

2005- Smitty's Triple Crown performance masked the fact that the rest of the receivers were nobodies

2013- An aging Smitty and an ascendent Greg Olsen

2015- Olsen and a bunch of nobodies

2017- Olsen (before he got hurt) and the rest were truly a bunch of nobodies.  Cam Newton's best game of his career IMHO was the 2017 Playoff game in New Orleans where he almost willed us to victory in spite of Kaelin Clay, Brentin Bersin, and Devin Funchess sucking something awful.

So, to your point, while there is not a bona fide WR1 in this group to start the season, the overall potential of this group is light years beyond a lot of the groups we have had in franchise history.
