We beat the Bucs- we win the division, get a 20th pick instead of 9, out of contention for the #1 pick, likely retain Wilks and a cut rate coaching staff and get embarrassed by Dallas in the playoffs. This off-season we’d be excited about signing a Jimmy G / Derek Carr kind of QB #vomit

 

We take the L… we get the #9 pick, new coaching staff that turns out to be on paper quite possibly the best staff Tepper’s wallet can get, we trade draft capital and get the #1 pick, get aggressive in FA and suddenly things look optimistic after 5 years of dire

 

Had we taken more L’s… we’d likely be sitting at 4 or 5, could have still gotten the #1 pick but it would likely not cost us DJ Moore

 

Sometimes you have to think long term health of the franchise and had we racked up more pointless wins last year we wouldn’t be enjoying the position this team is finally in

They talked about the trade to #2 and it was the 9th, 2023 2nd, 2024 first and DJ. And the Texans potential move from 2 to 1 had a player in it too. So they wanted players and picks.

Yeah this thread is going nowhere good.

The whole concept is stupid.

I mean what's the point of it? "Don't you dare root for the team to win because we might and we get a worse pick?" That's not exactly how that works.  I mean if we embrace the suck and, as a fambase, actually WANT to lose for the good of the franchise long term, do you actually think that will affect the outcome?

Or is it that you want the franchise to purposely tank? You want the coaching staff to encourage the players to throw games? You know that might be a bit stupid because there's kind of repercussions to that kind of thing.

Plus people would be losing jobs.

Sorry... The whole thing just stinks of narrow-mindedness.

Since we are playing the rewrite history game...

 

We beat the Bucs.  We get all emotional and cry together over our plucky never give in attitude and go on a tear to lift the Lombardy in Az while the chiefs fans pout.

This isn't the NBA you can't tank. You can trot out a Jimmy Clausen and end up with a Cam.  But the NFL is a results driven league and unlike the NBA you can't play half speed or bench starters just for draft status.  Putting the QBs out there that we fielded is the closest to tanking you will see in the NFL. The defense and running backs weren't having it.  Fact is we could have beat the Bucs if not for injuries in the secondary. It's just silly. It worked out. We didn't lay down and still got our QB. At this point it's even sillier to talk bout tanking and the shoulda coulda BS than it was during the season. Let it go dude.

I think Fitterer was trying to tank. You can’t ask the coaches and players to tank, but you can trade 95% of your already abysmal offense in one player and assume you’d be lucky to score a single touchdown the rest of the season. I think everybody just underestimated just how bad Rhule was.

Still can’t understand how you can compete a sentence with Brady’s Johnson in your mouth.

      Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.

      I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.

      Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
