Bryce so far ahead that they feel they can expand their offensive playbook

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not but that was just me being facetious lol. I want him to do well also but I had to join some of the other members in joking about how positive all the news is about him.

Better than reading about our #1 pick’s fake smile all off-season before his rookie year. What’s so bad about positive reports?

I understand that, but still what happened to being a loyal diehard fan regardless?

The few times we made the playoffs I remember feeling like we won the championship.lol

Hornets are definitely the worst of the teams in Carolina, but im going to support them even in the bad times.

There is a saying "bad times don't last forever."

Hard to be a loyal die hard fan when the team gets moved to NO after a big FU to the fans from George Shinn. Never really recovered from that personally.

The team hasn't really done much to spark an interest since their return to Charlotte.

A real fan bitches and moans about everything the team does. He forgets he complained about what worked but reminds everyone about him predicting what would go wrong. Those guys toil and suffer in misery every day “for the team”.  They are the real fans and are to be revered by us mere mortals.

This guy gets it.

There's a lot of inexperienced or new guys that make up the rest of the offense... might not be the smartest thing for us to outpace them all with the new QB.

Just sayin'.

Yeah but let's think here. Strictly X's and O's football, even accounting for terminology, every other position needs to focus on and understand their own role, maybe the guy immediately next to them, and for RBs, just understanding the aim point or the blocking scheme. QBs have to be aware of it all.

So for a staff, getting the rest of the team there mentally is far easier. It's just adding a wrinkle or scheme. Example: For the QB, it's a new mesh point, with a play action off of it and understanding the blocking scheme and the pocket and the route combinations and the timing. Whereas everybody else? A variation of everything they've been doing + timing.

Not to mention, I imagine at the pro level introducing new concepts into your playbook is largely just refreshing guys on stuff they maybe ran at some point in high school or college or other teams in the league and just getting that tighter as opposed to teaching something fundamentally different and new.

the TLDR version is, above is a very well said and valid point, but if your rookie QB isn’t drinking water from a fire hydrant like the rest of the young guys, it’s a good thing.

If the Qb, the rookie Qb, digests and understands these concepts it will bode well for the team.  Vet QBs often play with rookie receivers , backs etc.. and their command of the offense helps the inexperienced players grow. If your rookie can take on some of those field general tasks sooner than later it will put you in a better position in the long run.

The QB is the only guy who truly has to understand the full playbook. Everyone else just needs to understand their role in the play. Honorable mention to the center who has to understand the protections.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
