Anyone ever own a jersey of an infamous player?

Recommended Posts

The year we signed Olsen I refrained from buying his & left it to the family as a Christmas gift. To the point that I expressed if the only gift I open is a G-reg jersey then I will be perfectly happy. Come Christmas Eve, I got my jersey but my inlaw that bought it was a tad slow. Instead of an 88 jersey, I got a 2…. Clausen…

I did also lose my very first ever Panther jersey, Starter, got it at TJ Max for $20. Was dating a waitress at a sports bar in ‘03, let her wear for Sundays, we split, never saw her or that jersey again…. #14, Reich…. Smmfh…..

Not really infamous, but I have a Reebok Peppers jersey.  After he left, I put it in storage for when he retired.  Was glad he came back, but I can't fit it anymore lol.  Tip for any player who gets traded, keep the jersey eventually it will be vintage

Same scenario. Had a super nice authentic white peppers jersey. When he came back I wore it with pride.

I don't see anything wrong with 99% of the names listed here for jerseys as they all did the best they could to represent the Panthers and they gave it their best shot. The only one I would call infamous would be anyone wearing a Rae Carruth jersey as he is scum of the earth as his son still suffers to this day from that piece of garbage's evil act not to mention some parents who dealt with the loss of their daughter. To hell with that guy. I still hope he is dealt a very serious and painful punishment while here on earth for the crap he pulled that night all those years ago. He wrecked many lives and took a life. Burn in hell and I hope you get brain cancer wherever you are Rae you waste of oxygen piece of poo. They should have fried your ass long ago.

Same, but I have 2, a black and a white.

I also have Rae Carruth"s gane-worn glove framed with my signed Lathon jersey and Sam Mills-signed hat. I got it pre-murder and just never taken the framing apart.

I have a Keyshawn Johnson jersey.

Funny, or not so funny at the time, story about Key jerseys: When the Panthers signed him, I was very excited and ordered a black jersey online. Before that one arrived, I went to the mall and they already had his jersey in stock, so I bought a white one - my least favorite jersey color. THEN, less than a week later I ran across a blue one somewhere else and bought it. My wife still gives me a hard time about buying 3 Johnson jerseys when he only wound up playing for us for 1 year.

    • That was intended to be plural. Games(3 games he played in 2004). Yeah, I think objectively CJ is still the better QB but I also no longer have a rosy view of his career. I don't know that he is going to ascend any further than his rookie year and he may descend quite far if his confidence is shattered. I am not in the CJ vs. Bryce camp like most of you all are. I don't want either of them. Especially in the context of potentially getting a mega deal. I could be wrong about both or either in the end but my bet now is that entire 2023 first round QB class just doesn't have any upper tier QB's.
    • I think DJ will always catch some heat because he will never be an elite WR, despite having elite attributes. I remember that when he was here. We all saw Steve Smith play for years, so we know what a truly elite WR looks like. DJ was never that. Now, is he a very, very good WR? Yes. Is he one of the best 15-20 WR's in the NFL year in and year out? I would say yes, as well. But he will always get some doubters because he is the tier below the truly elite WR's. I do agree, though. Would love to still have it. Would love to have reversed that trade immediately. Especially with the benefit of hindsight the way we have now. It's way more painful from that view.
    • No, he never threw 8 tds in a game.  I feel like we're splitting hairs and are describing the exact same situation, but you're looking through the lens of recency bias.  Either way, the original point remains the same.  CJ Stroud is still far better than Bryce Young.
