That certainly is a different person.

I talked to Armani at an OTA during his  second season.  First, you have to remember that he was with the Jimmy Clausen draft--when Fox was a lame duck and Marty drafted players he liked.  Marty got abused in that draft--trading up for Armani based on misinformation provided by the Colts.  That added pressure.  Then he gets a new staff the following year.  Edwards told me that it was weird learning a new position this late.  I joked that it was like being a pitcher all your life and they move you to catcher in the big leagues.  He laughed and sorta agreed.  I had the same experience in college--when they recruit you to be a TE but, after a few August injuries, they moved me to OLB (played both in HS, but was not the same player on D).  So I get it.  Edwards was nice, humble, and obviously frustrated.

He was mainly drafted to sell tickets? John Fox didn’t want him?  We gave ip the 33rd pick in the following draft to get that? I’m hoping he is exaggerating or was misinformed because that is horrible.

that was just hurney magic bb

Sounds like little was done to develop him.  Foxy had 1 foot out the door when Edwards was drafted (2010).  He (Foxy) acted like he didn't give a sh#t so not surprised about that.  Rivera not an offensive guy and was a little in over his head.  Edwards landed at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I lost most of any respect I had for Fox in 2010. He earned that too. JR was too cheap to fire him, Fox just sat and collected the checks with no shits given about the team or fans.

Such a shame about AE. One of these most dynamic players in college football.

Played hurt in the Michigan game.

With a week or two left before we went to Michigan, we started facing injuries. I got hurt. ..... And the week before the game I wasn’t able to practice at all because of a sprained AC joint in my throwing shoulder.

....on the first drive coming out of halftime, I got sacked and was thrown directly on my hurt shoulder. I think it was a cracked bone. But adrenaline was still rushing, and I managed to finish the game.

This is very similar to what Matt Corral is going through currently. Sure he was drafted by Fitt but under the Rhule regime. He got hurt, didn't get a chance to prove himself, drafted his replacement and now he is fighting for a backup job. Right time, right place, right opportunity absolutely matters in the NFL and it's unfortunate that a lot these players don't have any say in their career.

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
