I gotta be honest, outside the run defense at times and obviously the pass catchers, the team looked pretty decent.

QB was the worst, receivers were #2 and that run defense was a close third.

Two of my three concerns going into the season.  A short yardage back was my third concern and the failed 4th and short attempt proved that point.

That was such a fuging stupid play call. Either spread it out and go or go heavy and QB sneak.

That was the dumbest play call of the game.

Easily my biggest gripe of the offseason was the lack of a power back. Hated that call by the coach and GM to ignore it, and we're gonna pay for it with a lot of 3rd and 1s that lead to failed 4th and 1s (because Reich hates kickers)

I'd say easily the WRs were the worst, because I'm gonna pin most miscommunications on them, as was the case with Cam in 2011. The OL was fine and the pass rush was better than expected. The QB is a rookie who made some nice plays and a few bad ones, and the run defense was as bad as expected.

What surprised me more than anything, by FAR, was how often I was saying "What is Frank Reich thinking"

Really? Did you not watch Frank Reich at IND?

This plus the fact that Miles Sanders played really bad, and doesn't look like any kind of an upgrade over just rolling with Chuba and a replacement level backup.

If PJ Walker played like Bryce Young in his first game, you'd all want him benched and never see the field again.

Well. One's a Rookie and very young, no pun intended. PJ Walker was an Undrafted FA and a few years in the League when he made his first start. Plus, he has ZERO potential while Young has a ton. That comparison, like most do on here was trash.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
