Trade for Higgins or Metcalf? Do you ever want to make a draft pick again?

And we all know the first game they don't go for 100 yards and 2 TDs you'll be talking about how they're a #2 at best. They've failed to live up to the ridiculous standard of the mythical "Huddle #1 WR". We need a TRUE #1.

You draft a QB like young to lessen the need for a true #1 WR.

fug them picks.

Let’s see what we have in Chark/Mingo/Theilen/TMJ/Shenault by the trade deadline. Lots of unknowns.

Trading for Renfrow would make the Theilen signing pretty pointless imo.

If we can get Chark back in the mix (hopefully this week?) it would go a LONG way.  We have zero speed and nobody who even poses a real threat to take the top off of a defense. Chark is tall and fast and is a deep threat.  Does anybody know his status for Monday?  Still questionable?

I wouldn't be against getting HR for a conditional 7th rounder, however, with AT19 on the team his role on the team would be as a back up or show that signing AT19 was a mistake, which I feel it wasn't if AT19 is used properly.

I think the big challenge for the panthers is to develop Ihmir Smith-Marsette into something usable on offense.  The dude ran a 4.42 40 yard dash.  That shows he has enough speed to take the top off a defense, or at least take one defender out of the equation.  I think once he is fully up to speed on the playbook you will see him as a larger part of the game plan.

If, by mid season, we have Chark on one side, Mingo on the other, AT19 in the slot and using Marsette as our other speed guy in 4 or 5 wide sets, our offense will look much better.  TMJ is built to be a bog over the middle/goal line/sideline catch guy.  He isn't going to be a deep threat.  Unless he gets in better shape and learns a more defined route tree he isn't a game changer.

You don't need a true WR1 anymore. You need guys that can get open. Is it nice to have a Tyreek, JJ or Chase? Sure. But the Chiefs just proved you don't need it to win. A SB.

Maybe trade a conditional 7th for a new hammy.

An elite WR has never been a must have roster piece. Honestly, QB is the only must have roster piece. You need a solid OL, but you don't need five All-Pros. You need a pass rush but you don't have to have that one stud pass rusher. You need offensive skill position weapons but you don't have to have that one elite WR. You'll take the elite talent wherever you can get them, but outside of QB the rest of the roster is a collection of the whole. Too many people get caught up in trying to find stars at key positions but no team has stars at all those key positions.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
