1st downs: 28th

Passing

Passing yardage: Dead last

Completion percentage: 28th

Y'all, the numbers scream it. There's a very glaring massive problem with the Carolina Panthers' right now and it's our inability to effectively pass the football.

Saints and Falcons defensive ratings so far this season:

Total Defense:

Total yardage: 3rd and 4th

Total points allowed: 6th and 9th

Yards per play allowed: 3rd and 8th

1st downs allowed: 4th and 15th

Passing

Passing yardage allowed: 2nd and 7th

Yards per passing attempt: 3rd and 4th

Chicken or egg situation at this point. Too early to tell if the offense completely sucks or we just kinda suck and are playing good defenses. Let's see how we do against Seattle.

There's still a glaring category that's sticking out and it's the passing stats. Considering our complete inability to pass the football our running game has been great.

    • I think it is a perspective thing.   For Bryce, have people forgotten how utterly horrible he was into year two?  I think some have.   I am not a numbers guy but I hear tell that his numbers were historically poor.   He was incrementally better 2nd half of year two and that takes you to 2025.  He had  actual acceptable performances at times in 2025. Which is a whole lot better than historically bad but not necessarily even league average when you can’t cherry pick just those good days.     I don’t know what about CJ. At this point I’d have to say I would be very concerned about him because it may now be in his head.   I still think CJ is the better QB but maybe not if he can’t put the dysfunction behind him.
    • The thing is, Stroud's needle has been moving down where Young's has been moving up. Situationally, most would give the nod to Stroud over each of their tenures, so overall most are going to be more critical of him at the moment.
    • Actually we like to run more than most, and the dropoff isn't that drastic. We seem to be pretty much middle of the road. The Facons, Bucs, Browns and Bengals are the ones where running drops off markedly when they start trailing. Our line on the chart, like I said, is somewhat middle of the road.  As to whether or not if it's good or bad is anyone's guess by looking at this. I suspect people who like Old school football won't be upset at this at all. The thing is, we would have to know the game scripts and the situations, as running and or passing making sense is contextual. I know that I haven't necessarily been enamored with Canales's situational play calling. At the end of the day, I believe in using the run to set up the pass and the pass to set up the run, and trying to keep the opposition off balance, but I still believe that you should run it down their throats if they can't stop it.
