Can we trade for a WR1?

Hindsight is always 20/20 but in hindsight the obvious answer was to pay Reddick (a lot less than Burns would require) and take the haul for Burns. Oh well.

And keep CMC and Moore for Young. Hindsight is always 20/20, but it sure seems like most of the realistic fans have better ideas than what the team actually does. Oh, but we can’t play GM.

Here’s one to gnaw on, the trade value we gave up and used to draft Corral and DJ Johnson is almost the same as the trade value we got for CMC. We gave up more to get Darnold than we got for CMC. We gave up about half the trade value we got for CMC to get CJ Henderson.

It was always utterly baffling to trade our only proven WR as part of a package to trade up to draft our QB. When I saw the news of the trade come scrolling across the ESPN ticker while sipping a beer at Ass Clown Brewing (how prescient of an omen that has been given how Bryce has looked thus far) my very first initial reaction was, "Okay, well who the fug is this kid gonna throw to?"

"WR are easier to replace than pass rushers" - Fitt

so far, Fit has found neither or have trade them or let them walk in FA

While Fitts doesn't deserve any credit for it we're currently 5th in the NFL in sacks. Rushing the passer isn't our problem. Hell, pretty much all of our problems revolve around the offensive passing game.

yeah only a clown would  move up & draft an undersized rookie QB & all at the same time trade away his bona fide #1 WR not something instead an NFL GM would actually decide to do...just saying

I think the best option is trading Chinn for Jameson Williams and a conditional pick. Vonn Bell and Xavier Woods have done well at Safety.

I don't think Burns should be traded until the draft order is finalized at the end of the regular season. Need to see at least what Haynes looks like after returning from short-term IR

This doesn't have to be solved in one year. 3 teams pop into my head right away with how they handled supplying weapons around their young QBs. Philly, Miami and Buffalo.

Philly: QB 2020, 1st round WR 2021 (Devonta Smith), Trade WR 2022 (AJ Brown)

Miami: QB 2020, 1st round WR 2021 (Jaylen Waddle), Trade WR 2022 (Tyreek Hill)

Buffalo: QB 2018, FA WR 2019 (John Brown), Trade WR 2020 (Stefon Diggs)

There are potential WR trade targets that won't cost 1st round picks, their will probably be an undervalued free agent WRs, team is currently likely will use use their second rounder on another weapon too like it did with Mingo this past year.

Burrow took off once he had Chase. They were able to draft Chase because “rebuilding” teams have 1st rounders!

So not only did we trade away our WR1 but we also traded away our best shot at finding one the following year

Herein lies the problem. We didn't suck enough last year to be rewarded with a top quarterback during the draft this year, so our wonderful GM and his brass balls owner traded up to draft BY and justified it by saying "we don't plan on picking high next year".

Fitterer literally said this...and he looks stupid right now.

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
