YOU TELL ME: How would YOU go about realistically fixing this team.

No way Burns signs the tag to be able to trade him. After this year he needs to go to a good team and have a prove it year. It is his best play for the size of contract he desires. His agent should know this and that trail has already been blazed. They won't even get a comp with the amount of free agents they need to sign.

Fair points.  A trade should have already happened.  We knew this wasn't working before the deadline this year.

Technically, if we had a plan, we should have been more active trading players before the deadline--We have no plan, and that is obvious.

OL: The offensive line is about scheme and developing talent more than finding it--Hire coaches to develop young talent-Campen, Ickey has regressed, nothing from Cade Mays.  We need for Mays, Zavala, and Icky to improve.  BC was a third, Zavala was a fourth, Mays was a fifth (going from memory), and Ickey was a first rounder.  Throw in Bozeman, and the pieces are there.  In my mind, the kid from NDSU (Jensen) looked decent last night.  I think we are not as bad as we think-just very young and injured-when the defense rushes 7 because the WRs and TEs suck, it makes the OL look terrible.  Not to say they did not suck, but to say the talent is there.  develop it--since you can't address every need in one offseason.  WR and TE is more important.

Trade Moten.  His $30 m cap figure will only hurt the team.  At 30, he is in his prime for an OL and has value.  Play Christensen at RT.  This will cause some of you to disagree--tough for me to say, but the cap is real.

Sign a top free agent RG

Tip:  Stop waiting until the end of the play clock and allowing the RG to signal to the C when to snap the ball.  Just a hunch, but that pretty much helps the defense.

Tag Burns.  If you can get two firsts for him, Fitterer, do it this time.

Lock up DT Brown for the long term.  He is getting better and his price will only go up.  He is 25, I believe.

At WR, move Theilen to the slot, Mingo (rookie contract) become the fourth.  Sign a stud free agent and draft a WR with pick 33.  In the draft, WR is going to be deep; take advantage of that.  LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr., Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka and South Carolina’s Xavier Legette, along with the Texas duo of Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, all could be in play, and all arguably have first round talent.  Legett is my favorite, playing is worse conditions and he is a big-bodied #1.  Trust SC receivers in the NFL.

There are no first round talented corners in this draft, but the depth is really good.  with the third round selection, take the best CB.  Jackson and Horn are in the tent more than on the field.  Henderson is not effective.  We need a CB who can play.

I also think we should consider drafting a QB in this draft because there are some very solid developmental QBs who should be there after the big two from USC and UNC are gone (Bears, Patriots, probably) early.  LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Oregon’s Bo Nix, and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. — three with top-50 grades — are out of eligibility, other potential top picks like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, and Texas’ Quinn Ewers have a big decision still on their hands.   That means there are potentially 8 QBs who could go in the first 50 picks.  The Panthers could make a trade and move up to grab a player like Nix or Penix--giving them options and depth at QB.

Luvu has been good, but he is not an ILB-I hope we sign him back.  I also think Chinn needs to go to OLB--he has been the most misused player.

Here is a wild hair--sign Cam Newton--as a TE.  He will be 33 and has a few years in him?  Wild thought, but he is an athlete and we need his leadership.

1) Resign DB immediately. Re-sign Luvu if we can

2) If we aren't going to start Dalton next year, trade him for draft capital. Should be able to get a 4th or 5th for him

3) Find a way out of Miles Sanders contract if we can. If not, just cut him and eat whatever dead cap

4) Cut useless players that don't have a ton of dead cap tied to them (Ian Thomas, DJ Chark, Marshall, etc.)

5) Extend Jaycee Horn while has value is at an all-time low. Yes, I know injuries have been a pain in the ass for the past 2 years for him. But I would roll the dice that he can stay healthy-ish and extend him while he is cheap to do so. When he has been on the field, the dude has proven to be a lockdown corner. He didn't have injury concerns prior to the draft and hasn't suffered any types of injuries with a high % of reinjury or injuries that significantly impact his athleticism.

6) Might be another unpopular opinion - trade down as much as possible next draft. We are nowhere close to being even an average team. Stockpile 2025 and 2026 draft picks and go from there when we have all of our original draft picks.

7) Don't draft a QB next year unless a really good one falls to round 2 - yes, Bryce sucks and is a bust, but we just have to let him serve his role as commander in chief of the tank forces next year so we can have the #1 pick in 2025.

8. If we can't get a good coach in the offseason, give some bum in our organization the interim coach role for 2024 - please for the love of god don't hire some terrible coach again. Fire Fitterer. Same rules apply for GM - if you can't find a good one in the offseason, have some bum in our organization serve as GM for 2024. Said GM will have 0 power and will not be allowed to trade away draft picks under any circumstance. Hopefully if we stockpile future draft picks and have the #1 pick in 2025, that will be more enticing for a good coach/GM to sign with us.

9. Ducktape Tepper's mouth shut and let him have no input into draft picks ever again. In fact, duck tape his dumbass wife's mouth also.

Forgot 10. Decide now if we want to extend burns for a stupidly rich contract, or trade him in the offseason.

What would do?

Step one, I admit the mistake and trade Bryce for whatever I can get. Yeah, I'm gonna be roundly mocked but it is what it is. The guy's a bust.

I'm definitely looking at QBs in the draft and I'm bringing in a vet like Jacoby Brissett or Tyrod Taylor or Gardner Minshew to compete.

Tag and trade Burns.

Go after Tee Higgins. If I fail, I'm still adding at least one solid vet WR and I'm bringing in at least at least one starting caliber OL.

I'm going to use the early portion of camp to have a LT competition between Ickey and Christensen with the loser playing OG.

I’d let Bryce keep competing. He’s not the guy as far as I can tell but unless we can get a 1st for him from some idiot that thinks he can fit in, he’s our captain to get us the best draft position he can in 2024/2025.

I also wouldn’t sign Higgins. What’s the point again? He’s fine as Chase’s #2 and I think he’s really good, but I don’t think he’s a WR1.

I do agree on Iky. He’s another Fitterer fug up. He literally looks like Little out there with guys just running full speed around him. Had we gone Slater and just had better drafts in general we could have gone Garrett Wilson over Iky and had an offense with a real LT and Moore, Wilson and CMC. Not bad and maybe it would have kept us in the playoffs last year so we couldn’t trade up for Young so we take a stab at Levis instead.

The biggest thing is getting a legit talent guy at GM who is drafting well. We are going to have several top of the draft sets of picks over the next few years so we need to hit. That’s really the only way to turn this poo around. Good drafting and a good coach.

I'd do what should have been done from the get go.  Full-on tank for 2024.  I wouldn't make any major signings.   Yeah, fill out your team, but don't sign anyone to a long-term deal.  Don't waste money on a stopgap QB.  Trade Burns for picks.

Seriously, we just need to stand back.  Don't do anything drastic.  Hire your HC and tell him we aren't going to spend until 2025.  Then that offseason you can really start making big moves.

This is what should have been done when we moved on from Cam Newton.  We should have just rolled with Kyle Allen and let him lead us to a top pick.  Let's not make the same mistake twice.  Accept your fate and just wait it out until 2025.

Yeah I'm drafting Penix and signing another vet and having open training camp qb competition. And not the Rhule way of the Darnold/Baker split with Corral and PJ on the bench. Every man for himself equal opportunity

This is optimal advice for most things.

It's not that you shouldn't trade up for a guy you really want (I.E. Chiefs-Mahomes), but we traded up for Corral, Smith, Bryce, and DJJ out of pure neediness and also due to the draft capital/positioning we put ourselves in.

If we just stopped being the one initiating trades for one season and let things come to us, it would be so much better.  The trades we didn't make (and should've) were the ones that came to us (2021 trade down & Burns) and the ones we did (as previously mentioned) dug us into this madness.

I'm honestly not big on Penix as an NFL prospect. I'm intrigued by McCarthy st Michigan.

I don't care, whoever you can get in the 2nd or 3rd round that resembles an NFL qb. Honestly Corral would probably be doing better if he had as many reps as Bryce has gotten. At least he can qb sneak

Exactly. Panthers look so much better if they would have just relaxed and let things happen as they happen.  Hell, Frank Reich would have been a good enough HC for us if we kept Darnold, McCaffrey, and Moore, and then used our 1st round pick in 2023 to help on the OL or elsewhere.
