Wouldn’t you rather just have Christian McCaffery, DJ Moore…

I just find it funny CMC was on the sidelines with us most of the time injured. Now he is in MVP consideration with the 9ers and hasn’t missed 1 game? We are truly a cursed franchise.

Nobody wants to risk their health and career for a *potential* 6-win team.

Some of you really like to spin your own narrative. He played 3 full seasons at nearly 100% snaps. He still played chunks of the subsequent next two seasons and was healthy when we traded him.

DJ Moore was the more egregious move. Top 10 WR in his prime on a low end contract compared to some of his peers. McCaffrey is everyone's favorite because he's playing on the 49ers behind that OL with Shanahan designing plays. But nobody wants to talk about his salary cap hits or the fact he and his mother were relieved to get him back on the west coast. He's also banged up heading into the playoffs behind one of the league's best olines. You're dreaming if you think he stays healthy and doesn't sit out behind ours.

Players don't want to play when there is no point.  Can't blame them.  It's why Ball stays hurt for the hornets too

Almost everyone wanted CMC to be traded because of his injury history.  Now it's all about how stupid it was.  That's the way this board works.  It's very knee jerk reaction and drama.

Trade him for a haul sure.  Trade him for DJ Johnson not so much.  Worst part is we paid like 20 mill for him not to be here this year

It's a cruel joke how the weapons we gave up for Young are like made for his skillset

Yep. YAC kings. Brock Purdy is who he is in large part because of the best YAC duo in the NFL in CMC and Deebo. Little is one of the best YAC TEs too.

Bryce is the opposite of what Tepper and company thought. He's not a guy who lifts his weapons up. He's a guy who has to be carried by his weapons. That's fine if your QB was a late round draft pick but it's a huge blunder when you traded up to #1 overall for him.

A multitude of bad decisions led to the self inflicted tear down of our post-Cam rebuild around CMC..we could easily be where the 49ers are now.

First off, we kept Rivera (& Hurney) too long

Hired Rhule and gave him Belicheck level control. And he obviously had no idea how to utilize CMC and build around him and DJ.

We had the parts…then hired people that didn’t know how to build with them. They made it an endless, frantic, needy QB search instead and countless reaches for RAS stars..not who worked best for the team with a distinct vision in mind.

It’s been endless chaos all trying to force a QB rather than build a team.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
