Pete Carroll

This team needs a good smart young coach to grow with the team. Tepper needs to go away and just be patient. This team is such a mess it’s going to take many years to fix. Hire the right guy and let him get to work and figure it out.

These old guys won’t be here long enough to see the fix through to the end.

Pete the Cheat broke every rule in the book at USC and F’d the program so badly they still ain’t recovered and took a promotion to the NFL.

He didn't do anything that hasn't been done by many other schools in the SEC and Big 10. The only reason the NCAA went after him is because it was the Pac 10 (at the time), they don't get TV coverage on the east coast because they play late Saturday night games, they already have 11 national titles, and the SEC and Big 10 had to be protected.

If you honestly believe teams like Alabama, LSU, and several other perennial powerhouses weren't doing the same thing, I don't know what to tell you. I just find it very odd that Alabama was never even sniffed at for recruiting violations.

Strange that the prompt quoted me

He's #2 on my board behind Harbaugh.

Please Tepper bring this guy in for a interview. He's another HC who can change the culture. Players love playing for him.

You are being swayed by past accomplishments.

Pete's a defensive coach, and the Seattle defense has been average at best over the last four seasons.  They have been 25th, 25th, 12th and 15th.  That's not good, it's below average.

Pete was a great coach, he put together a great run in Seattle.  But he's lost his edge.  I'm a lot more interested in finding the next Pete Carroll than trying to re-tread the existing one.

I love the guy's energy and enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. He's had both success and failure at both the college and pro levels. He gets the most out of his players and they'd run through brick walls for him.

If he was 62 instead of 72 I'd be pounding the drum to bring him here.

But let's be real. We are going to take years to fix, years that Pete may or may not have left in him for coaching. He needs to stay there and help mold that team for the future or go somewhere a quick turnaround is possible, like with the Chargers or Falcons.

Here, well, there's going the be some back-breaking work to dig this franchise out of the manure pile it has found itself under. We need a middle aged coach that understands what he has to deal with, how it has to be done and can somehow make that happen while making the team owner think that it was all the owner's doing.

If any of you run across a guy like that, preferably one with on-field AND coaching experience, let me know. I heard Ted Lasso is free next season if not...

At his age, no. We'd be right back looking for his replacement after 2-3 years. I'd prefer someone younger who can be here for 10-15+ years if he ends up doing well.

Ain’t no coaches lasting 15 years anymore in today’s NFL.

They just chased Bill B out of town and Mike Tomlin is on the hot seat making the playoffs every year.

Panthers just need someone to dig themselves out of the giant hole they’ve dug.

We don’t need a Super Bowl in 5 years, we just need our dignity back.

Alabama wasn't sniffed at because the NCAA president was Mark Emmert who happened to be Nick Saban's athletic director when he was the coach at LSU.

This would be like hiring Tom Coughlin after he was done with the Giants.

Even if you get him to somehow agree it's a waste of time. He's a dinosaur now.

Coughlin's last several years with the Giants were terrible. Carroll's Seahawks have continued to be competitive all along even with career backup Geno Smith as starting QB the last 2 years.

I won't argue those last few years. But can't scoff at a two time Super Bowl champion and both against a despised modern dynasty.

The Seahawks won theirs against one of the worst performing Super Bowl teams I've ever seen.

Either way by the time Pete got this team in good shape he'd be pushing 75. Again. Pointless.

    • I'm happy with TMac, but Tyler Warren was last season's Tyler Linderbaum for me in that he was at a position that wasn't one of the five pillars but he was the best player at his position AND one of the top talents in the draft. I cannot fuging wait for the Panthers to start winning again so that those guys fall to us like they seem to for teams like Baltimore & Philadelphia.
    • Still working on consuming all of these so I don't have summaries available, but I figured there might be another Huddler or three trying to kill time before tonight's final preseason game.   Panthers Blueprint: Training Camp The in-house produced Blueprint series has given behind-the-scenes look on the field and off. Start the day with Robert Hunt's family, be in the morning meetings, mic'd up players during practice (Jaycee, Rozeboom, Icky, and Bryce), roster evaluations by the staff, and plenty of camp highlights capping off with FanFest.   Processing Blue (Mike Kaye & Alex Zietlow Mike and Alex are back talking about a variety of topics including but not limited to: joint practice + preseason game vs. Houston, Trey Hendrickson trade rumors involving Carolina, training camp awards, draft pick draft, and various thoughts about the team.   Jordan & Jake 706: Opening Day Another in-house Panthers' production, the most recent episode of Jordan and Jake talk about how to properly balance intensity in practice, react to the starters being shutdown for the preseason finale, share their thoughts on the newest Panther QB, and more.   Raw Room - Ep 278 - Gas Pedal (ft. Mike Davis) Assistant special teams' coach Darren Bates' Raw Room podcast has former Panthers' RB Mike Davis on his weekly podcast. I'm about halfway through this one and it's been a lot of fun. The Raw Room guys (DB, his friend Alex Sweets, former Eagles/Chargers OT King Dunlap, and former Atlanta DB Jalen Collins) are hilarious and Mike fits right in. They talk about his football experience coming up, decommitting from Florida and how he decided on South Carolina, and more. Warning: If you're the type of person that is easily distracted by accents, despite XL being on the team, you might have issues with understanding the Memphis dialect. If you don't care about how somebody talks, just what they're talking about, tune in!
    • Allen was borderline unplayable in College.  He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.
